Default Manifold Gasket - 2 ply vs 3 ply

While in the process of rebuilding my engine and taking off the turbo manifolds i noticed my OEM gaskets were metal 3 ply however in my nissan rebuild kit the supplied gaskets are now 2 ply.

Anyone know why this is the case and any feedback on using the 2 ply

I would guess that most of us toss those gaskets aside and go with either the HR gaskets (inexpensive), HKS(proven), Cosworth(functional) or Cometic (if you need a thicker gasket).

Those are head gaskets, no? I believe he is talking about the Turbo/Exhaust manifold.

i wouldn't worry about it. The ones i have on mine right now are those aluminum looking 1 piece crush gaskets. Work fine with no leaks.

I think I used which ever Nissan or Auto Zone had. I forgot where I bought the Gaskets. Probably these though, and have had 0 problems with them. And I have Turbo manifolds as well.

Thanks guys. I will just use them as they are oem Nissan ones anyway. Maybe it is part of their cost cutting
