Default Quietening down the Vortech V3

Hi All,

Been running my v3 for about 8 to 10 months or so.

It's quiet loud on idle and changing gear at high revs. I've had a look for solutions on this to quieten things down a little as the car draws a lot of attention and have come across this filter for the bypass valve:

http://www.superchargersonline.com/p...ber=V8H040-175

Has anyone used this and can vouch that it will help with noise reduction? Or if you have any other better solutions?

Cheers...

have you ever heard a cold air intake that was any quieter? or take a leaf blower and put a filter on the end. Same thing, those filters do not do anything with regards to noise suppression.

The only way to quiet is down is reroute the BPV back into the intake before the supercharger. That is the only option that will reduce the noise.

I used the filter from vortech for the bpv then wraped some prefilter material around the outside of the filter and it is very quiet now. Just make sure you dont wrap too much where the bpv can't function properly.

Rerouting the bpv to the filter didnt make any real sound difference for me. It might work better with a cai with more area to muffle the sound.

Funny, My Way has Worked Great for 7 Years......

See My Thread: https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...e-muffler.html

You need to add 1/4" dense cell soft foam inside. Works great.....

To remove the Gear Noise @ Idle from the SC, you need to raise the Idle to about 800RPM.

Sounds like a jet to me, but I work at an airport so I'm used to it. I actually love the sound.

I used some lawnmower filter element and folded it over the end of the bpv and used a hose clamp to hold it down.

It's quite as can be. Normally a vortech cruising through the parking lot has a huge WHOOSH sound but at idle and parking lot cruise you can hear the blower gears over anything. No woosh sound at all. Cost me 1$ for the clamp and somehting like 5$ for the air filter foam.

Thanks so much for this oldmanz350.

A few questions:

1) Do you have any recommendations on the foam that should be used so that it does not affect the function of the Bypass valve?

2) Is that long pipe that comes off the filter something you had to mold yourself or can I buy that from somewhere as something plug and play?

Thanks

1) 1/4" Thick dense, closed cell foam. You can buy it in a small sheet. You Line the inside of the filter with it. It will not affect the operation of the valve. It will just absorb the noise. like a very dense air filter foam, Must be Dense Form plain airfilter foam will do nothing.

2) A piece of Hose, with a piece of steel or aluminum Tubing.

3) See #3 of: https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...e-muffler.html

DO NOT put anything inside the filter. It sounds like it would work great but if your cog belt ever breaks you will suck that foam right into your engine.

I used 1/2 in prefilter from an industrial air filter and wraped it tight.

If you dont like VTEC, dont buy a Honda. If you dont want noise, or cant compromise with a little more for more power dont go FI

Calm down Alberto... you always have something sarcee to say. it's more like the louder the car, the smaller the ***** anyways isn't it? lol

It was just to make the bypass valve a little quieter when moving off. To get rid of unnecessary air release noise when only at 2krpm... lol...

I don't want to silence it altogether ofcourse.

I didn't know driving a loud car and blowing up engines turned into a requirement on these forums.

I like the sound the Vortech makes, thats just me. Nothing about the look of my car says stock, so why quiet the supercharger, not like a radio where it's going to get stolen
