Red face Ati Procharger Ping Problem

I am a Broadband Field Engineer for a communications contractor. I thought I'd throw that in right up front so you know I am at least 15% qualified to ask the questions that I am asking. I have installed the ATI Procharger HO kit on my 03 Touring. The only other changes from stock are the NGK plugs that were recommended by ATI for the kit. I have a very clear understanding of how the DFMU works and what it does. I have tried every possible combination with the DFMU and I still get light, consistent detonation/pre-ignition from the car at 6k RPM through 6.5k RPM. I have purchased an E-Manage to re-curve the timing above 6k only to find out the RPM pickup on the E-Manage will not work without some kind of gadget that Greddy will not have available until after January. Did you have the ping problem when you first tuned your car and what solutions are there for this issue? I have looked at the J&S solution but I am not real excited about turning my 6 coil system into a waste spark system. I have considered the ECU re-mapping and larger injectors but that leaves me with a car that is not tunable if I change the exhaust or anything else. I have had an FJO WB-o2 data logger on the car since the install of the ProCharger. It tells me that even with a mixture in the, "blowing black smoke", lower than 10:1 range I still get ping at high RPM. What gives? Can you guys help? PLEASE!

Your AF is not needed to be so low first of all. However, your timing is too high and causing you to ping. As a temp fix, go to the dealer and have them use a Consult II to lower the timing as low as they can. See if that helps. Then look for solutions to lower your timing. Some have felt that a Technosquare reflash helps but in reality, there are no widespread and obvious conclusions to remedy the problem that the ATI creates.

State is NC. Greenville is the town, not small not big. I have used 104 octane racing fuel from a 5 gallon can also. The racing fuel gave n o improvement at all, same problem. I am using 93 octane fuel from Shell and Amoco. Theye do not blend the fuel here. Its not oxegenated fuel.

FYI, we've developed a working harness to obtain an RPM signal on the 350z.

sounds like you have exactly the same problem i have........the cold weather is probably amplifying it........please be very careful driving your car until you can get the timing at those upper levels modified..........last thing we need is a yet another motor killed by the Procharger
