So i recently got tuned using uprev with my tuner, asked them if there was software for it and was told no. Well is there anyway i can use this cable to get DTC codes and basically look over how the car is running? I remember when i used EvoScan i was able to check all of the ecu setting etc...

thanks

Wrong section, we have a tuning section but ill help ya out.

To log, retrieve DTC etc you need cipher along with the cipher cable (which you say you already have) You can download it HERE

Here is the Uprev site where you can get any other downloads http://www.uprev.com/support.php

Don't you have to buy the Cipher cable and get car tuned with that Cable? I thought if you do not buy the Cable with it, the only Cable you can use is a "master" cable which would be the Pro-Tuner. Maybe I misunderstood everything.

The tuning license is stored on the cable, not the ECU. And it marries to the ECU during tuning. So your friends cable will only do basic stuff like logging and listing and clearing DTC's, NOT actual tuning or DTC disable.

Ok thanks for the answer. Yeah the cars got some issues as of now so I'm going to rear my codes and see what comes up. Probably going to see a misfire code. I'm suppose to go back to fix all my problems in October.

Yeah I am not hitting boost anymore til I get it resolved. Seem like the car lost power but I'm not positive on that. Well see when I go to the tuner.

so since i got flashed at a shop, only that shop can do anything with the reflash now? Thats doesnt even make sense. I paid $300 for a license that I cannot even use since i didnt flash with my Cipher?

Not true, or atleast not for me. I tune my car via a different cable than the tuner used. And have also done the same with a friends car who another shop tuned. When you flash the car the license moves to the ECU or atleast that's how I understand it. Because the cable I use has no licenses on it, and I believe that pro tuners have multiple licenses on their cable and reload them after they run out.

No. Anyone with a tuner-enabled cable can tune it.

thats what I thought. I was hoping djamps was incorrect. doesnt make sense if the license is in the cable.
