Default Sort of new owner with questions...

Afternoon guys

Im new to this forum as you can tell. I even watched your "required" video and read the "Noob" post. Point taken and very very informational. I must say, Slide Fox is one impressive person.

About me, short and quick: I am not a "owner" of a running Z.

Im a S chassis guy so dont scar me and have been for years. After putting so much love "money" into SR's, I finally called it quits. Its just not possible to keep a reliable 500+ 4 cly. If you own one then thats awesome but its no longer for me.

Anyhow a purchased a complete totaled dropped top Z33 DE and pulled everything I needed from it and sold the rest. Obviously Im going for boost so I have stalked your site for most amazing Z info but was afraid to join because i didn't want to get "Fresh Alloyed" lol

But a major unanswered question I have at the moment is manifolds, Theres so many rumors about using the stock ones, turning them upside down or buying N/A headers and so on. Is there a source for purchasing single turbo manifolds the way I want them? The only one ive seen is from Z Fever and no offense to anyone" but there is to many damn pipes running around the motor! Its insane!

All criticism is wanted, I call it experience.
Dont burn me for being an S guy. I was raised on them well before the trend.

The manifolds? I would like my turbo to run between the front of the motor and where the radiator was but lower. More or less visibable to the front of the bumper. My radiator and condensor is being relocated to the drivers side.

Very rarely you will find a set in the F/I classifieds. You should try calling some of the large shops and seeing if they have an extra set lying around somewhere (Forged, Dynosty, GTM).

If you changed the location to under the car then Boosted Performance may be able to help you out. He may be able to fab you a one off part too, but it will cost you and you may have to ship your car to Canada for fitment.

Ok. I'll give them a call. Question though. Why is it that no one is willing to break up turbokits? It's like some type of cult. Like you don't run it the way you want then you cant have it lol.

Canada may be out of the question for me. Though I'm not trying to "budget" build my car, that will set me back further then the car itself.

Other than Boosted Performance and MAYBE GTM's in house kits there is very little support from companies for parts. I know Mid350Z got a set of replacement manis for his setup from GTM. I believe they are log style for the TT setup though (rear facing). I'm not sure there is any single turbo setup that faces the manis front, I think they all do a couple of 90* turns and come up from the back side by the firewall then to the IC.

if you want custom manifolds, you will have to leave the car with a shop. You cant build them on the bench off a mockup. The space is too tight.

Still waiting on someone to build a set of forward facing VQ manifolds. Hopefully you can be the 1st

That may be true but correct me if Im wrong; S chassis engine bay room has more than Z33 room, especially in the front. Thats why I chose the manifold style. There is a guy I know who is up for the job and does great work but he's so got damn lazy!!

Also. Is it true that I can use aftermarket N/A manifolds upside down and then he can long tube them to the front?

Ahhhh ok. So it sounds like the upside down manifold trick is a myth??

I looked in to this, and there really is no point. The amount of work that has to be done in order to run a proper size downpipe on the passenger side is not worth the effort. There is just too much stuff going on there with the harness and coolant lines (both hard lines and rubber).

this would mainly be on an AC delete car with the alt on the other side as u would go with a 1/2 sized radiator. plenty of room then.

or just dump right thru the fender or do a split downpipe with 2x 2.5"

Someone was selling a set for a front mount single... almost dove on it myself but remembered I need a totally kosher engine bay so mid mount stays..

flipping shorties forward might work looking at my headers sitting here it looks like it will if you put r header on l side and l header on r side forward facing of course.
its more of rotating not flipping upside down though. only trying would be 100% though

Good point, what would you suggest?

Half size radiator of course is the goal but why would I have to delete my a/c and relocate the altenator?

Right! Now we're talkin! If I go with a set of aftermarket headers and run them all the way forward then I should get the design I want. Only other issue I could think of would be making a funky downpipe.

If I ran the Exhaust hella short? Would I be loud? I don't like the loud ****.

I thought this thread was going somewhere, until now.
