HKS Debuts 350Z Supercharger at 2004 Tokyo Auto Salon
i was actually at the HKS shop last friday night(different car) but i did get to see this car and their g35 coupe with a similar setup. all i can say is MMMMMMMMM. no test drive though, it was after hours. But i do know it's in the last stage of CARB approval, if you guys care.
Has anyone heard anything about a release date? This looks like a great set up and a great bolt on FI kit thats not a turbo. Turbos are great, you get all the cool toys to play with but maintainance is just the downside. Want a superchsrger but just don't trust american companies to produce a reliable product. Thanks.
Thats a pretty bold statement... That is one thing that America has down, is a supercharger. Other than that I agree with you're statement. Of course I may be a little biased since I'm getting a Vortech unit put on my G35 as we speak, but woudln't have done it if I didn't fully trust them as being a supercharger expert.

If it gets CARB and cost is reasnable it seems like a possible option. Compared to an Vortech SQ trim , the Rotrex unit sounds like it will be significantly quieter. But it probably will cost more dinero. Keep the info coming.
Getting back to my post, yea America does have the supercharged thing down packed, no doubt about that. What I meant to say is that I don't want to put a kit on my Z by a company that makes superchargers for Mustangs and Camaro's , big V8's and what not. I would trust a company like HKS since they are a reliable Japanese aftermarket company. Also, Japanese tuners test their product extensively before releasing it. Perfect example, ATI. How many motors have blown due to this product. Lots of companies like Vortech, for example, have gone the right route and R&D their product and didn't just jump in to be the first company to make a FI kit for the Z and cash in before anything else was available. Again, I'm not bad mouthing any american companies here, They all make great respectable products that I'm sure those who have purchased them are happy with but I will not put anything American on my car since I've had very bad experiences with american aftermarket parts. Just my opinion, no more, no less.

signed, non-ATIwhore
I would be very leary of putting a rotrex blower on my car... When comparing CF blowers to eachother....vortech is bullet-proof and second to none....Rotrex is NOT!!! Rotrex had major issues a while back....
