yeah that's the one! Nice Car. For dome reason I thought you had a Insane Racing sticker on your car. I know I've seen you with some of them a few times. Well, I won't have my Z until late spring or early summer. I have to save some more for the dp. But I'll get with you when I do.

I am 90% certain that I am getting the Vortech kit this summer once it gets a little warmer. What is needed to connect a laptop to the Vortech black box? Also, in your opinion, is the Vortech kit on a Z bolt on and go? I would like to install it myself and then take it to a shop for a baseline tune but, I do not want to hurt the motor on the drive.

Vortech certainly considers the unit to be a simple bolt-on for the 350Z. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that Vortech's programming of the SplitSecond box does not match the ideal timing retard and A/F ratio for the G35. Perhaps when they have an official kit for the G35, the programming will be different.

That said, having gone through it myself I am really glad I had the kit installed by someone who had the ability after looking at the post-install dyno chart to tweak the program using the SplitSecond R4 software.

Thanks. How can I interface with the SplitSecond box?

Hey all, I do want to let you all know that we have a 2004 G35 here just about wrapped up. The program that was in the 350Z system will not be the same for the G35. We will have two separate programs. I will get more information out once the system is released.

I'm assuming once you do a sedan install that you will have a separate program for the sedan versus coupe as well. I'm looking forward to the information. BTW, here are my latest dyno results (6MT sedan w/ Vortech kit and Stillen exhaust):

Hey guys... you gonna be in the shop again this Saturday? We think we found the problem with my power shortfall on the 350Z. I need to get another run or two on the dyno to verify it, though.

If we're right, Mark and I will need to talk to you about phase II development on my Z!

mcduck, I've been wondering whatever became of your HP situation. Good to hear you've nearly rooted it out.

zimbo..

yes, we identified the HP issue but not what I wanted to find out. Basically, I'm where I should be for my mods. Two items are holding back the power and account for the difference between what I am hitting and what Jeff@Performance is hitting.

fastvtecCL...
On the Vortech Gs, I see you went with cooler plugs. Wondering if the stock injectors are up to the fuel delivery task. Are both G35s running stock injectors?

hey,

I remember reading a while back about a problem with the vortech system in below 32 degree weather? Can anyone verify this? I would love to buy this system if i got the Z and my only problem is that I live in NJ and it definately gets below 32 degrees for most of the winter time.

nice numbers Steve. I'm sure they will continue to go up as the car breaks in.

It's been pretty cold here in Raleigh. Maybe 20 degrees F in the mornings. I keep the car garaged, however, and am very careful to drive at low RPMs until the car is fully warmed up.

We state in the owner's manual:
Never operate your engine at full throttle when the engine is cold. When starting the engine each day, allow plenty of time for the oil to reach operating temperature before running above 2,500 RPM. Full supercharger operating temperature is generally achieved after the engine water temperature has been at the normal operating range for two or three minutes.

How's that?

I think the concern is for initial start-up temp......what effect on the head unit with below freezing start-ups. I will have the same problem being up North.....but this is my last concern before a buy the kit. I had heard about bearing problems when used below freezing. Maybe synthetic will help a little in the lower temps.

What is R4? Can I just use my PC and use Hyperterminal or do I need to get a propriety app?

R4 is the name of the proprietary software.

Thanks forced. Thats all i was worried about. Theres no way I would drive around a new car like this without letting it reach proper temp especially with a FI unit installed.
