Default Vortech V3 build

As you can see, I don’t really post since most questions I have if not all have been answered in some way, it just takes time, effort, and a little thing called the search bar. This forum has been a huge help, I have spent countless hours searching, reading, and re-reading countless build threads. So thank you to everyone that has shared their knowledgeable information.

I have a 2006 350Z Enthusiast. The engine had been replaced about 11k miles ago due to the oil consumption problem. Right now I am in the process of going FI. After doing tons and tons of research, countless thread searches, I finally pulled the trigger.

Current mods:

JWT intake (for sale)
Hotchkis front and rear sway bars
Exotic Speed R1-Titan exhaust
Megan Y pipe
ART V2 TP
Rear camber kit w/toe bolts (extra set of toe bolts for sale)
Volk GT-S
Bridgestone Potenza RE-11
Tein S-tech

In the process:

Vortech V3 tuner kit
3.12 pully
GTM pully mod (for sale)
Mrev 2 with isothermal 5/16 spacer
DW 600cc injectors
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
CJM stage-0 RFS
NGK one step colder plugs
UpRev Maf GT sensor
Tuning with UpRev
Prosport wideband and boost gauges (installed by tuner)

I am still waiting on the Vortech and plugs to arrive, should be any day now. I am and planning on doing most of the work myself. First time with FI, taking my time and making sure everything is right and the way I want it. Depending on how hard the RFS is to install, may leave this for the shop to deal with. As you can see from the mod list, I am tuning with UpRev. Living in the Detroit area, the closest tuner is Toledo (Pure Tuning) which I have heard little to non about. I am leaning more towards Slowmotion Motorsports, since they are more known and I have read good stories. Any insight of where to go would greatly be appreciated. I really don’t want to drive more than a couple hours, would like to be within a decent distance of the tuner. I know once the injectors are installed I shouldn’t really drive it. The car will be on a trailer, unless I decide otherwise. I have emailed both places recently and Pure Tuning told me they would need my car for a couple days just to tune, seems kind of much for just a tune. I would prefer to do as much work as I can and only be at the tuner for a day since it’s not close and avoid making multiple trips.

My goal is to hit anything over 400whp but staying under 450whp since it’s a stock block.

Update 8/30/13

Here is a crappy pic of the dyno.

Engine bay all cleaned up..

Shouldn't be a problem getting past 400 with that set-up.

2.87 pully
You gonna hit 14 PSI with this pulley and it's way too much for the stock block.

I just tuned my car a week ago, had installed 3.12 pulley and was making 10.5 PSI with it. I have same mods as you do, no cats, 3" exhaust, XYZ pipe, plenum spacer. So i changed to 3.33 pulley to stay under 10 PSI for safety. Now I am making 380 WHP and 313 Torque @ 8.5 PSI.

What kinda trq were you seeing with the 3.12? With only 313 now on the 3.33 pulley, should of stayed with a smaller pulley..

3.12 pully. 2.87 is too much for stock. go to 3.12 and do headers exhoust and manifold and you are 400rwhp and safe.

I been doing this setup for 50k miles

We didn't tune with 3.12, we upload base map did the pull and had 10.5 PSI so we switched to 3.33 because i have DE motor and it was too much for it.

My car is a de and before the si upgrade I hit 418/352 at 11psi with the 2.87. I ran it hard all the time and never had an issue out of it.

OP if your worried about making to much power with the 2.87, buy my 928 BLV in the forced induction section. Already welded to the piping and ready to go. Sorry had to plug it.

If your tuner requires a few days to tune with Uprev then they might not be very experienced with the software. I vote against the 2.87 until you get a built block. Your tuner will probably have to pull back timing just to compensate for the extra boost and possible detonation. Are you tuning for 93? You will also be overspinning your blower with the 2.87.

You can hit well over 400whp on a 3.12. I even did it with a SCi trim. And then my motor blew.

Is it not needed for revup? Can you clarify on this?

What were the Specs of your Tune?
AFR's?
Ignition Timing?
Miles on Car?
Octane?
Oil changing Intervals?
Driving Style?

What happened to your motor?
What do you mean Blew? Rod thru block, ect?

If you're talking about the extra idler, then no you do not need it, the pulley setup is very different from the non-revup setup...

The pulley mod was always meant for the non-revup setup...

2.87 is way too much for a stock motor. I made 442rwhp and 363rwtq with the 3.12 pulley seeing 12.5lbs of boost @7200rpms.

you cannot say x pulley is too much for the stock engine. Thats just ignorant.

You pulley your car to whatever power/trq you want to make.

Perfect case in point,lilong1991 made those #'s with a 3.12 while most people barely hit that with a 2.87. I ran a 2.87 with 455/405 with 100+ passes down the strip on completely stock block with zero issues

Thanks, this must have went over my head when doing my research. If anyone needs the GTM pulley mod, I have one for sale.

Great feedback guys, I am going to consider the 3.12. I talked to the shop and will have both the 2.87 and 3.12 at the time of tuning.

these blocks dont fail because ur in 400hp + u can run 500hp the problem is u dont want to go over 400lbs of torque,so when running a supercharger thiers a big gap in horsepower and torque.with a good tuner u should be ok.

So I've had the car back for a few weeks now and thought would give a quick update. The car ended up making 410WHP and 340WTQ at 6psi with the 3.12 pulley. I am running out of fuel which is the reason for only running at 6psi. The shop had narrowed it down to something wrong in the fuel assembly, I will be buying a new one and installing it sometime this winter.

I would like to give a huge thanks to Slowmotion Motorsports and Corey the owner for all the work done. I drove three hours with my car on a trailer to get the dyno and tune along with a few others things done. I didn't want to leave my car and come back for it and told them that, the shop closed at 6pm and Corey and a few others stayed until 10pm finishing up my car to make sure everything was right. I could have left my car with them to resolve the issue with the fuel but with the three hour commute I decided to take my car and enjoy whats left of summer over here.
