First and foremost, feel free to call me out if this is not in the correct section.

I have read a few threads of people using the Holset HX35, HX40, etc. from the Cummins diesels in their FI setup with good results. DAMN good in some cases.

My question is, has anyone on here used or know of anyone that has used the turbo(s) from other diesels? Such as the Garrett's used on the Powerstroke or Duramax diesels. I tried Google and other searches to find the specs to some of the Garrets used on the above mentioned diesels to see if they would even be feasible for use in a Z. Couldn't find to much about them. I've found SEVERAL replacement turbos for them but the majority don't have specs or even exact model numbers to contact Garrett with. Most are just listed like, "Garrett 7.3 Powerstroke."

I ask because from what I HAVE READ, the majority of people seem to prefer Garrett of Holset if they have the option. And I've found several Garrett's from the above diesels rebuilt and with warranty for the price of Holsets. Any help or insight into the matter would be much appreciated!

 

i havnt seen the new engines but when i was at the plant they where installing garrett gt35's on the powerstrokes
