Default Walbro 255--Ordered! :) 8.5psi...here I come!

Slowly but surely, my car is coming along.

Ignition timing harness was installed last night.

Baseline timing retard has been entered.

Walbro 255 will be here in two days (Thanks Dynamic Autosports..great price).

Currently running 6psi and 360whp with 11.5:1 airfuel at 6500rpm.

With the fuel pump installed (no regulator or return line just yet), I will do some tuning to get to 8.5psi on pump gas. Since the Walbro will richen up the entire map, I will scale down injectors even more via the eManage. This will have the effect of leaning out the entire map...everywhere....and essentually will bring me back to my baseline A/F ratios. This is a key feature of the eManage...you can use any size injectors up to about 150% of stock, and the eManage will scale them down by reducing pulse width accordingly. increasing fuel pressure has the same effect as increasing injector size. The 440cc injectors will be behaving like thet are 520cc injectors..or so. Obviosuly, there is a limit in terms of drivability has you "go-big" with the injectors, but 440cc injectors idle and cruise like stock. 8.5psi should be good for just over 400whp or so. I will likely dial in very aggresive timing retard...just to play it safe....and gradually increase timing as my comfort level progresses.

I'll keep you updated on the progress.

One question for the Walbro 255 people....do you need the installation kit and fiilter kit to install the pump? Or can I just do a direct swamp and use all the stock parts. I know some minor dremmeling is need on the pump...I can handle that. Dynamic didnt have the installation kit/filter kit thing. But they are sending me the pump for now.

Skidazzle actually put down 454whp at 10psi on 93 octant TX sweet unleaded. Wish we had that stuff in LA.

Ummmm.....SQUILL......no....I am not a humanitarian...hehe....

But I will share any learnings I have along the way. Thanks though.

I've been running the walbro w/ the stock greddy map for a few weeks now. The carbon build up on the exhaust tips and rear fascia is disgusting. I really need to tune this thing.

I drove the eclipse to work today, The Z needs to take a rest until I tune it. I forgot how much fun my eclipse is to drive. 22 psi!

oh man, I missed my eclipse. I was running 19 psi of boost with 290 wheel hp on California's 91 octane. it was so much fun making power out of the 4G63.

be careful with that pump without any other mods...your base pressure is going to be through the roof!

The pressure was measure by Spaz and it went to 56psi...if memeber serves me correctly. It is not a huge increase in pressure...so I should be OK.

I'll be leaning out the fuel map to compensate for the extra fuel across the board.

ETX, why dont you try scaling down the injectors more. Maybe like 550cc or something. This should hopefully lean you out enough so you are running closer to 14.7:1 at idle and cruise. Then increase your boost, retard timing, and I bet the rich condition will be significantly reduced. If you are running too rich at WOT...just add a bit of boost...and make timing adjustments as necessary.

By the way, dont do any of this unless you have a wideband...i think you do....cant rememeber.

I hit 10 PSI all the time without the Walbro, just a remapped ECU and P.E. 380CC Injectors. Have video to prove it. Hit 10 PSI two days ago in the video. I'm kind of in a don't fix it if it isn't broke mode and during low rpm runs I am actually rich in bank 2

12sec - hook a fuel pressure gauge up one day and you'll see why a bigger pump and a return line would be a wise investment

12sec...are you running a wideband in your car? What are your A/F near redline? Not sure how you are doing this, since my Profec shows my 440cc injectors at 100% duty cycle at about 5500rpm. After that, no amount of eManage tuning is going to help me. I need more fuel pressure! I dont wanna go leaner than 11.5:1 for an extra margin of safety.

GQ,

Supposedly the Walbro will put you just over 4bar, so say 60psi. With 60psi, 440s, "safe" BSFC of 0.60, you'll still be MAXing injector pulse width for 400whp.

You need MORE fuel pressure OR maybe add additional pulse width with the "ADDITIONAL INJECTION MAP"?

22psi is not much for a 4g63, many can go in excess of 2bar with proper tuning race gas, and the right turbo. some even do that on stock internals, but i would not recommend it.

gq you can make your own 93 octane by mixing some sunoco 100 with a tank of that crap 91.

Yes, once I get the fuel pump, I can add are more fuel with the eManage..no problem. But without the fuel pump, adding fuel via eManage does nothing at higher RPM>....its already pretty maxed out.

How do I do it? It's Technosquare magic at the ECU level I guess it's been 6k miles and I haven't toasted anything.

Just remapped my ECU for 9 PSI.

Who said it's a 4g63? I would be running more boost, but the 16g is maxed out around 22, I think it maxes out around 18 psi. Or at least it feels like it does.

GQ, Nah I don't have a wideband yet. I really need one. Actually, I'm going to order one right now.

I doubt your running that much boost on a 64, but ya the 16g doesnt like anything above 20, all your doing is blowing more hot air.

Nope, not a 64 either. I'm gonna pickup a 20g for it soon.
