seems pretty lean to me.. that's probably why you are getting so much power.. personally, I'd want to be around 11.5 right until around redline then drop off into the high 10's because I'm a chicken and I like all the pistons to stay inside my motor

IMO, the bottom (i.e. richer) two runs on your dyno sheet are too rich, but the one that stays above 12.0 above 5500 rpms is a bit too lean from 5000 to 6000 rpms. That's just my opinion. I don't think there's any reason to dip into th 10s, but an A/F ratio close to 13.0 at 5600 rpms would be too lean for my own comfort.

What does your timing map look like?

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it looks like the blue lines are his last run. That one stays around 12.0 than dips into the 11s near redline.

That's a pretty good A/F, though I might lean it out just a little at the bottom end where no or little boost is being generated.

With that set-up, he's making 378hp to the wheels. Pretty nice!

pimp... what other engine mods are you sporting?

Who did your install in Ohio? Would you recommend them?

You read it right mcduck. they were shooting for 12.1 across the board. it does go a little lean at around 5500.
As long as it stays under 13.0 it should still be safe, right? it reads rich on the gauges, whenever I wot.

This is on a stock motor, it feels amazing!!

I think 13.0 is higher than you want, but whether or not that will blow the motor depends on your timing map, etc.

what was your boost at red line ? I could only get 7.2psi at 6,400rpm . I checked the belts between every run . Im wondering if it was slipping a little now . I did end up with 379whp . I have the little dip in power at 5,700rpm's..... it did lessen the more fuel he took out .Yours looks like they got rid of that dip all together....but thats where your A/F looks a little lean

Oh sorry COLLETTI MOTORSPORTS
www.collettimotorsports.com

ALSO, i had a question, everyone seems to be worried about timing, my question is. I don't think that my tuner messed with timing, should they or is it safe "as is"?

My tuner never touched the timing either .Your fine....like most every said its the A/F that is the thing you need to keep safe. Vortech takes plenty of timing out to be safe .

I thnk 13.0 with no timing fix is a recipe for a blown engine , I had an 03 engine blow at 12.8 with stock timing and the new 2004 engine was $6000.00 minus install.

My 5 cents all free.

They said that it did get 8 psi at redline.
I am not sure that I can help you on your power dip, because I am fairly new to the whole "FI" thing.

So, because of the responses I have been getting, I am going to take it back to my tuners, and have the add a little more fuel.

So, I should get the air fuels at around 12.0 from 0-4900 rpms and 11.5 from 5000-6500. does that sound right?
any comments would be much appriciated!

thanks again in advance.

Max, I believe he is saying that they left the timing at the stock Vortec settings. He isn't saying that he has no timing fix, he is saying that they didn't change it from the stock Vortec settings.

BTW, pimp, is your car totally stock drivetrainwise with the Vortec added??

Yeah we didn't change it from the stock vortech settings, and I also have the JWT clutch and flywheel as well.

The A/F line seems very wavy and erratic...why is that? Is it possible to smooth it out.

Gotcha,

Yeah I would add more fuel and try and get closer to 12. After 12.1 at 6200 rpm's the gains are proven to be minimal.

Myself and the girl from Z Chicks (Terre?) both proved this on the dyno. Of course we both have ATI kits so it may be apples and oranges. Normally if it's too lean you will know in infancy.

Thanks Rod.
