95% done. Just have to get a seal cutter to break off the oil pan and then I'm out. Tapping wasn't that bad. Changed the plugs this morning, and tried to remove the cats. I got all of the bolts off, but now the studs are holding the cat on. Can I take a hammer and beat them out backwords?

Here are some pics of the install.

Thanks for all of you guys help.

How are you going to put the K&N filter on, now that the blower is fitted?

Yes, the filter needs to go on and then the blower/bracket goes in. If you do find out how to do it, let us know because we are going to have to change them sometime. My plan, for now, is to remove the radiator core support.

I had to move the entire exhaust system towards the back of the car in order to clear the studs.

I would be willing to be that hole in the plastic piece you had to cut for the pipe that goes around to the back of the radiator is not big enough.

Default Vortech Install questions!

This beats a DIY post anyday. Hopefully this covers the challenging parts of the installation. Was the rest of the install overall easy? I've installed a NOS system before and wasn't sure if I was up to a s/c install. I think I'll try it after reading this.

About the ramps, Their Rhino ramps, and I'll probably take them back. The only way I got it up there was to jack it up and put them under the tires. They have rubber feet, but after 10 tries to get up the ramp and them sliding forward every time, I gave up.

About the tubing, I thought so too, so I enlarged it and it's not touching in the back, but I'll try again tomorrow.

About the Air filter, I left it out on purpose. I refuse to have a filter that will take 4+ hours to change or clean. I called vortech and they said that the only way to change it is to remove the SC. I looked at removing the radiator support, but that looks just as hard. The K & N filter is smaller. It's about 2 inches shorter and about 2 inches narrower at the base and the same at the top. My thinking is that I'll be able to take this one on and off without removing anything.

By the way, did you guys have any problems breaking the seal on the lower oil pan. I removed all the bolts, but it won't come off. I tried a flat head, chisel, razor blade etc. I'm gonna try with a scraper and a little more elbow grease tonight. If you guys have any tips let me know.

Getting off that oil pan is rough! I had to use a hammer and 2 chisels to get it. I'm glad I did though, look at all the metal pieces inside from tapping the oil line. Once I put this back on and plug in the oil lines, I'm done.

I have those ramps too and agree that they suck, but here's what I did to resolve the issue...

I went to Home Depot and bought two 10' 4X4's and put them against the wall in my garage, then butt the ramp up against them. No more sliding forward.

I have a little lip on my garage entrance and I'll probably just put them in front of the lip.

But on to the real news: She's Alive!

I drove to the end of the block and back! My BOV was whistling really loud at idle. I zip tied a surgical towel over it and it's quieter now. Is that right, though, should it be discharging air at idle?

Now I'm just paranoid that I did something wrong. Like, what if the splitsecond box isnt' hooked up right and it's not retarding my timimg, or what if ......you know, the basic OCD questions.

Unfortunately, my filter isn't here so I had to rig something up, you guys should enjoy this.

No, I am pretty sure that you are ok. On most (if not all) of the threads regarding the Vortech install I've read, they mention that sound you are describing. I believe that I read where someone used a small cone filter over the BOV to quiet down the noise.

P.S. Looks like your Z is sticking it's tongue out at someone!

Yeah, this BOV is kind of annoying. How high do you have to rev to get the ker-pssshhhh sound? I reved it up and all I got was a whistle!

Someone else posted that they changed the blowoff valve to a new vortech unit from a store and it was quiet, except for the ker--psshhhh sound on gear changes. I wish mine was like that.

Also, my engine bogs a little after revving, with the A/C off. Is it like that with you guys cars also?
