Default APS Cat Back Exhaust and Test Pipes

Hi Guys,

Information on the APS cat back exhaust and test pipes has just gone up on the APS web site. It's been a very busy time for the web team here and whilst we're struggling to keep up with the engineering teams at APS I hope that the information that is published is of interest to all.

Regards
George

Awsome I like how you guys did the middle support bracket on the pipes! And the last video with test pipes... those flames look just simply awsome! That's exactly what the Z was missing! Now we just need a little richer mixture to spit out some longer lasting ones

I have no sound tho, have to wait to get a chance to hear it with test pipes, that thing must sound damn mean! Thanks for sharing!

Hey thanks man, yeah the middle support bracket is really neat.....they way it should be done.....glad to hear you liked the last video........imagine a bit more fuel on over run the flames would be 2 feet long. Exciting times ahead for all!

Shame you have no sound.........the test pipes combined with twin turbos is an awesome experience.........hope you enjoy the sound soon.

Yeah the APS cat back system will be available as a stand alone product and we expext the price to be appox $995, the exhaust system does not include the test pipes which will be offered as an individual product. Will be available in the states around September 04, thanks for your interest.

Those are some very nice sounding testpipes and exhaust. Can you give us a ball park as to how much the TT kit and the test pipes will run seperately?

Yeah we are very pleased with the test pipes....................I don't have final prices yet for the product though I believe the test pipes will be very competitive with other quality test pipes.............I will post prices within the next week or so..............Sorry for the delay.

Hey thanks, I take it that you like the APS cat back exhaust system.

I hope so as we have spent many months on the exhaust development and we have prototyped and tested 8 different system designs to find the ultimate power gain from exhaust enhancement.

Any chance we can get a dyno of the exhaust and test pipes on an N/A Z. I want the exhaust and turbo kit but the reality is its going to be a while before I can get the turbo kit. Just wondering what kind of performance gains to expect for adding the exhaust to my currently N/A Z

Will post dyno graphs for the APS cat back exhaust system and test pipes in the near future, please be patient as we only have one US spec Z car in Australia as of now, which is currently in TT confirguration

We have tested on a N/A Australian version Z car though there are small differences between the Aust and US specs in terms of the base exhaust system, so this may not demonstrate the true power result on a US spec Z engine.

Should have accuratre power graphs on the APS web site in approx 3 to 4 weeks time, sorry we can't respond to your request any sooner.

Hey thanks for the offer though I am sure you would not want to pay for the one off cost of freight to the US.

Will get the power graphs real soon for you, by the way what is the normal power increase you would expect to gain from a well designed/manufactured true twin cat back system?

I see you reside in California, Brain Storm performance will stock all APS products to suit the 350 Z when released in September, they would be the most convenient dealer to assist you, would be worth getting into contact with Brain Storm now to confirm your order

Count me in as a G35 "guinea pig"...I would be happy to pay for shipping. OK, not happy but willing nonetheless.

The Borla, Stillen, and Injen dual exhausts are the three exhausts which, according to various dynos, make the most power on the Z/G35. They all make around 8hp. I believe this is to the wheels. For more info, read this summary that someone posted a while ago on the forum:

Borla (car 2) = 8.2 Hp - 2.7 ft/lbs torque (peak values)
A top end system. Little HP increase until the 5600 rpm to 6500 rpm range. Lost HP & torque below 1800 rpm. 60mm (error actually 58mm). Weighs 52lbs. 1 million mile warranty. Installation - Hard (17 pieces)

Stillen (car 1) = 8.1 Hp - 7.3 ft/lbs torque (peak values)
Hp and torque increase starting at 3000 rpm to redline. Lost a little HP & torque below 1800 rpm. 60mm pipe. 74lbs - 10lbs heavier than the stock system. Lifetime Limited Warranty. Installation - Easy

Injen (car 1) = 7.6 Hp - 5.1 ft/lbs torque (peak values)
Small torque loss at 2800 rpm. Torque gain starts at 3300 rpm. Small Hp increase starts at 3300 rpm, max Hp from 5800 rpm to redline. Major loss in Hp and torque below 2200 rpm. 49lbs.
1 year Warranty. Installation - Easy
I imagine your main competitor in the 2.5" turbo exhaust market would be the GReddy Evo2, which according to some testimonials on this site, makes more power than the above 3 exhausts while not losing low end torque. I haven't seen any dyno sheets that verify this.

Also, a question: what is the weight of the APS exhaust?
