Vortech COG pulley PROBLEM
Okay guys, I know most of you have rattling issues with your supercharger at idle. Just last week I noticed that my rattling noise started to get worse and worse and it started happening not only at idle but throughout the whole revband.
Anyways, while I was cruising on the highway today I started to feel my engine hesitate. Felt like all of a sudden I would lose boost for 1/2 a second then get boost again. Then when I exited the highway I was stopped at a redlight. My engine idle started to sound REAL bad, "Clank Clank clank". It seriously sounded like my supercharger was falling apart. When I got to my destitation and opened the hood, what do I see? The damn cog pulley behind the blower unit came right off the shaft. I'll post pics of it tomorow when I remove the unit and send it back.

holy siht man, i hope i never have that problem. First thing in the morning i am going to tighten that bolt. How bad is it that you need to send it back? did anything get damaged?
The pulley Jimmy is talking about is commonly referred to as the compressor pulley. The cog pulley is the one on the backside of the jackshaft.
Jimmy, did the rectangular lock rod fall out or come loose? Or did the bolt simply come out?

This exact same thing happened to me. It's because of the bolt/nut Vortech uses to retain the pulley on the SC. Mine came off during a drive in the mountains 3hrs from home! I simply unhooked the toothed belt and drove home NA (with no problems... so a good fallback position if you have SC trouble).
I experienced your same symptoms. For all other Vortech owners, if you're Vortech "burble" gets louder and more rattly sounding, check your SC cog pulley bolt immediately! It is probably working loose!!!
We fixed this by change the washer out with a washer, lock washer combo. no problems since this was done.

The bolt holding the pulley onto the shaft can only be tightened with a big allen wrench. I found a allen key big enough but the bolt wouldn't budge.
