Default supercharger install cost?

We just got quoted $3k by Grubbs to install and tune a vortech.

Is that some kind of joke?

$3k sounds a little high to me, we actually very high. You can get a TT installed and tuned cheaper than that.

Shop around.

Ouch. That's insane. Are they planning on warrantying everything with that cost? That's the only way I can see it being justifiable.

the warranty issue was my only reason for going there, otherwise i would be doing it myself. I think I will pocket the 3k and do the install on my own. If something breaks i will strip it down and just say the engine blew while i was going to the grocerie store.

It' d prolly be cheaper, had you bought thru them..

remember, a good load control dyno is gonna be costly, but the benefits FAR ouweigh the costs (ntm, realworld simulation)

the install should be about 1200-1500, plus a few hun or so for gauges.....

then tuning is very vechicle specific, as some cars take to the vortech maps okay, others (like mine) ran nutz until cleaned up/retuned

Recommend you do it yourself. Did it myself over three days. With exception of "right angle" drill and tap, had all the tools. Save the $$$ for Split Second R4 program, "L" Flash from Technosquare, gauges and some dyno time.

Yes that is a Kinetix Plenum. Besides myself, know of two others that have Vortech SC and Kinetix combination, CaneZMD and coletta z. Still need some A/F adjustment, but rwhp @ 338. Sorry, but have gotten away from thread topic.

What's up Josh. I posted this on your site **********.com. Like I told Jaysen, I am meeting up with John from Infiniti to retune the car in the morning when it's nice and cool to see if I can get better numbers than the ones I got when it was 102 degrees. I'll ask why the price was so high. i told Jaysen how much I paid for it. The only reason I can assume it is that much is because you aren't buying the SC through them. Dunno bro, whatever you do decide to do, it will be good to see two more SCs on Zs here in Dallas.

Thanks guys for the input. I will definitely be doing the install myself. I was just planning to go through the dealership for warranty reasons. But the benefits of doing it myself are far better than having them do it for such a high price..

kinetix plenum with boost? =-O

Toy, write up a how-to on your website like the one you did for the center consol...so I can install mine myself too!

I probably will, but it might turn out to be a 50 page writeup
