Default zeitronix installed, review

I installed the zeitronix zt-2 wideband o2 guage + display today and everything is working fine.

For people whose RPM is logged/displayed too low, you need to select "1 cylinder" instead of 6.

I have the unit connected to RPM, TPS, Boost, MAF, in addition to A/F (only EGT was not used).

Pluses:

- main unit is very small
- fast sampling rate (74 samples per sec)
- can data log to computer
- cheap, paid less than 279 in group buy, including bosch o2

Minuses:

- no internal memory so cannot log without pc
- pay extra for display (which is a little big and cannot change what is displayed)
- optional boost controller is expensive and bulky
- wide band output signal is not linear

Overall, I'm happy and will keep it. Anyone install the "mapecu"
yet?

enjoy,
rob

I recently bought and installed my Zt-2 and it's "ok". Nothing special so far. I got the RPM signal from my GReddy eManage RPM adapter so "6 cylinders" works fine on mine, however the RPM signal is quite jumpy. It seems to go up and down by as much as 300 RPMs during normal accelleration and decelleration. Hopefully today I'll begin tuning my eManage based on the A/F ratios I log from some 3rd gear WOT runs.

I'm waiting for their "round" A/F gauge to come out. I personally thing that the current gauge is ugly and unless you are actually monitoring your ETG and boost, it's a waste of money.

Thanks for the review! Are you using their pressure sensor to measure boost?

Rob,

How is your RPM reading? Does it fluctuate a lot? Here's how mine reads (this is from a few WOT runs yesterday):

A/F RPM TPS
-------------------------
14.2 2763 82
14.2 3097 82
14.2 3012 82
14.2 2824 82
14.1 3048 82
14.2 3254 82
14.2 2965 82
14.2 3048 82
14.2 3187 82
14.2 3084 82
14.2 3012 82
14.2 2824 82
14.2 3135 82
14.2 3282 82
14.2 2988 82

As you can see from the TPS reading, I am at WOT, yet if you look at the RPM numbers, they are all over the place. Shouldn't the numbers show a steady increase, not fluctuate up and down as much as they are?

can anyone with a Zt-2 export your data to a csv file, then copy and paste like I did so that I can see how your RPM numbers look? I am curious if it's the GReddy RPM adapter that's screwing up the RPM reading, or if that's just how it works.

You got a loose wire for sure man. Your e-manage could be getting a bunk signal as well, and that could cause it to not fuel properly. If you load up the software and watch the RPM readout does it jump in the graph? I had a loose wire on the greddy rpm adapter and it looked like it was missing little chunks. Regardless, check your wiring.

As far as the Zt-2 I *LOVE* mine. Why? Because it does everything I want it to do for the right price. I connected the analog out to my profec e-01 to display the output and I run the loggin software on my PC mounted inside the car w/ a touch screen. The analog out IS linear from 9:1 -14.7:1 it took me a little tweaking of the conversion in the e-01 but I got it dead on with the value from the software on my PC.

Chris, i'll try to export that data for you. But I'm going to the track directly after work tonight so I won't see the Z until later tonight.

I am 100% positive that none of the wires are loose because I soldered them all very well. I was thinking about hooking the RPM wire of the Zeitronix to Pin# 62 only (Ignition wire #1) and then see how the RPM's read. I know that a lot of others have theirs hooked up this way and say that it works fine (you just have to set the number of cylinders to "1" in the settings). I think that I'll try that first.

I have noticed that the eManage Support tool shows similar RPM readings, but it does the map trace just fine.

I would try that Chris. Mine is really steady and doesn't jump. I'll try that export thing, I didn't know you could do that. I'll give it a shot.

I'm trying to do it now, how do I do it? I tried save as and the only option it gives me is save as zto file. I tried "copy to clipboard, but it copies the screen shot, not the values.

It sounds like you have an old version of the software. Download the newer version (v1.0.3)HERE. There is actually a version 1.0.4, but it's not available for download on their site yet.

Once you install that version, it has an "export" option under "file" and you can save it as a .csv file.

Well, that is what I would think the RPMs should look like. I wonder what the hell is up with mine. Maybe the GReddy RPM adapter is only compatible with their products???

I assume that you have the Zeitronix RPM wire hooked to Pin #62 of the ECU? I guess I'll be switching the wire tonight and see what I get for a reading.

Well, Pin#62 did the trick! Thanks guys!

Here's an Excel graph of what my current A/F looks like at WOT based on the data logged by the Zeitronix (3rd gear run).

The green line is what I am shooting for when I tune the eManage unit.
