Question Most important gauges for FI (Vortech)?

I am trying to decide which gauges to get to help monitor what is going on with my engine and of course the Vortech. So far I was thinking about a triple gauge A-pillar setup with boost gauge, wideband A/F gauge and a fuel pressure gauge. Any thoughts? I was also thinking about an oil temp gauge since the Vortech uses the cars oil to stay lubricated. Thanks for any suggestions.

youre not talking about those little red-yellow-green A/F gauges are you? those are gay.

id get a boost gauge, fuel pressure and a real AF gauge....as in an EGT gauge.

No, no, no. A wideband O2 sensor with guage. Not one of those autometer ones for $50 you are thinking of.

Okay, first two gauges are settled. So which do I go with for the third and why? Fuel Pressure vs. Oil Temp. Thanks!

I am running a Wideband, EGT, Fuel Pressure and Boost. BTW I am also using the Autometer AF gauge in conjunction with the PLX wideband (they offer a converter to calibrate it correctly). I find the simple colored gauge much easier to glance at to get a reading than a digital display on the wideband. I am probably going to get an oil temp gauge at some point since I still have an open spot in the Pillar. The reason that I suggested the fuel pressure is that the Vortech FMU will significantly increase fuel pressure from the stock 52 PSI and the gauge allows you to make certain that this happens. (Hand-n-hand with the wideband)

I am still running rich right now and I figure the wideband will let me know by the A/F whether or not the fuel pressure is consistent. So I am leaning toward the oil temp, especially when driving hard. Any more suggestions?

Thanks teh

Default trio

For FI , I have always favored the correlation provided of the Trio, "Boost, Fuel pressure and WB A/F'.

If you are useing a Rising rate fuel regulator, the Fuel pressure indication is a really good tool. Oil temp most usefull if you track the car.

I would suggest that you pickup a copy of the R4 software from splitsec.com if you want to adjust the AF ratio. As far as the fuel pressure, I had a fuel line fail while I was driving and the only way that I knew was that the pressure was at 0. A few others had the same problem. Without the gauge, I would never known right away....

Oh, and I did use the R4, but my FMU is being stubborn. I was able to get it leaned out a little, but not exactly where I want it.
