Default project BOOST

I will be getting my car back very soon with the following mods (first mods ever on this car):
-Gredddy TT w/ Intercooler
-Borla True Dual
-Technosquare reflash
-some greddy guages
-turbo timer....

This is all I was planning on doing for this year. Next year I want to build the motor so it can safely handle 15 or so pounds of boost (maybe more). Any specific recommendations as to what internal need to be upgraded and what brands/ estimated ballpark expense? 6K? 8K????
Anything I should upgrade sooner to meet the demands of the soon to be current Greddy TT setup? (what brands?)
-cats, fuel pump,

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

What is the TS Reflash for? Timing retard? Or are you getting an L-Spec reflash.

Here is the short-list for your big-boosting desires:

Forged Pistons
Forged Rods
Sleeves/closed deck if you intend to boost more than 20psi or 600+whp for an extended period of time (this is my opinion..others may differ)
Full fuel system upgrade: upgrade pump, FPR, Fuel Rails, Return Line, 650-750cc Injectors
Head Studs and Main Studs
Upgraded Clutch
TS Reflash to 380cc

I think this adds up to roughly $10000 including installation.

To me, this is the basics. From there, you could add:
Porting Polishing
Cams
Valve Springs
Valve Retainers
Bigger Valves
Stand-Alone ECU..like an HKS Pro F-Con, Motec..etc..

Oh, and for a quick fix, until you decide to build up the bottom end...get a Walbro 255, and an FPR with return line. This will help with your fuel issues. The stock fuel pump poops out at around 7psi...sometimes less.

OK, then make sure get the eManage timing harness and some diodes. This will allow you to retard timing, which I recommend...even at stock boost levels. My car, and Wild350Z's car's were pinging...even at 5psi. on 91 octane gas.

gq:
any problems with your engine stalling with the BOV...
i was told that the bov install on the greddy would screw up the sensors and the engine could stall out at stops, any problems at all or suggestions how to avoid this?

Sorry I know this is address to GQ.

So far no BOV issue with my TT. I have the BOV placed between the IC and the MAF housing. That way if the BOV goes off the air is not yet measured by the MAF so no biggie.

I think GQ has no issues as well.

^^^Correct^^^

Many vendors on the boards here can help you with the fuel pump and FPR. The pump is roughly $100, and the FPR should be about $130-$150.

I am having the same problem, at 7 pds I am running out of gas around 4200 RPM, hoping the Walbro and Return line will allow 8.5 to 9 lbs.

running out of gas, does the e-manage prevent that from happening, whats the worst thing that happens when the a/f ratio is thrown off that much?

When the 440cc injectors run at 100% and the engine is still wanting more fuel, you will begin to run too lean and that will destroy an engine. Adding a larger fuel pump and FPR will allow you to run a higher fuel pressure and allow your injectors to deliver more fuel.

wanted to wake up an old thread...this is the FIRST thread i ever posted on this forum..awwwwwwwwww
and now i'm getting my fully built/forged/twin turboed z back tomorrow...

funny to read some of these old threads and see how much the opinions have changed in the past 7 months...curious to see what the trend will be later this year!

I read many old threads tonight:
*GQ_626 moving to NC (moving van pics)
*Phunk and GQ_626 getting into a heated arguement as to why GQ's car was only putting out 300 something HP at 8 or 9 psi
*GQ's car coming out of the body shop
*Phunk running the fcon

damn, this is a frickin 350z soap opera...the saga continues

this is more entertaining than anything on tv...then again, we are ALL a little bit more demented than the average joe...
