Default R4 and Vortech Tuning

Had my car at the dyno today getting tuned with the R4 software. Made over 30 runs and a/f still not right. Best run was 339whp but a/f was not quite right. I think I got alot less once it was all said and done but I was wondering if there was some sort of map or guidline they could use to make the process easier? Kept the performance guys there all night trying to get it right. Hp kept dropping with every run because of heat issues.

hey everyone...
isn't dynoing a car pretty streneous on the drivetrain/clutch???
i mean repeated dyno runs...
just curious?

-barzten: it'll all be over soon, then you can take a deep breath and finally smile... don't worry, the day will come.

Couple of suggestions:

Get rid of the Iridiums, they can't be gapped properly

Did you use dyno wide band or AEM? If you used the dyno wide band have your tuner make sure the sensor is not worn out. (If the've been runing c16 or any leaded fuel then most likely it is)

I didn't see a fuel pump in your list. Has that been upgraded? (the tank pump not the Vortech)

Last possibility is the ECU needs to be reflashed. If the computer is modifying the maps internally then the Split Second can't do anything about it. (I doubt this, we have not had any real problems with this when we tune the Vortechs).

Hope that helps!
Dave

Barzen...what was your A/F ? The R4 has one draw back....it goes by 500rpm increments . So it kinda hard to get it stable . What kind of Dyno did you use ? If it was a Mustang dyno....your hp is good...30 runs ...is alot of dyno time and I think you should have stopped after about 10 or 12 . Heat soak can hurt hp quite a bit ....Bill
