Based on a lot of personal experience with those cars(reality, one might say )... If you drive that race with evenly matched up drivers, you will lose, and badly.

I hang out with a group of people who are big into late-model F-Body's, and have driven their cars. I can honestly tell you that these cars will decimate us in a straight line race. There's just too much power coming out of that engine.

These are the specific cars that my friends have:
2001 Pontiac Trans-Am(Non Firehawk)
2002 Pontiac Trans-Am(Firehawk)
1999 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

The last time I drove the Z28, it was mostly stock. It now has aftermarket intake/exhaust/sways/rims/tires. Both Trans-Am's are stock.

It's going to be hard to beat any car in a straight line that has an advantage of almost 70 pounds of torque, and 40+ HP with comparable weight. I'd say the only advantage that we have on them, is that our gears are closer... but that can also be somewhat offset by the need to shift more often in a non-top speed race.

I'd like to think it's a drivers race too(I own a G35 Coupe), but the reality is that the WS6 will blow our doors off. Keep in mind, their car has the same block as a Vette.

I'm sorry but a ws6 would destroy are cars with out a doubt. Maybe the ws6 was just trying to keep pace with you?

This is so true. I am pretty sure it wasnt a V6, wounded like a v8, and had the quad exhaust like the ws6. Also the race was from 120 kmh to 230. So not much on shifting. Dont get me wrong, i am not thinking that i can go out and beat a ws6. Just thought i would post and see what people think. I mean i highly doubt that he was pacing me, cus there was no point that i pulled on him and him on me, even after shifts. and i know its hard as hell to pace someone that perfectly.

Ive beaten a WS6 in my Z.

He had me pretty easily up till about 100, then I started to pull beside him. After about 120 I was ahead and at 140 I was 2 cars up.

After two runs from a rolling 50mph, Same result

Bottom end, or Quarter Mile it will eat you for lunch, over 100 and youve got it beat.

Every so often, someone posts something about beating F-bodies in a straight line. Almost any well-driven car can beat almost any poorly driven car. However, with equal drivers, A G35 would lose badly to the WS6.

I currently own a 350Z and used to own a 1993 Formula.
