From BMW to Infiniti Newb saying hi
I just purchased a white 05 G35 with aero kit/nav, 19inch wheels AT for my wife yesterday afternoon. I test drove both the 6mt and AT but my wife can't drive the manual so i got her the AT fully loaded. I love the way the auto drives believe it or not, but i still am going to get my own g35 but in 6 speed and in black. I just wanted to say hello to all the fellow 350z/g35 owners out there.
Initial feel of the drive. Smooth and well built. I like the bmw that i used to drive but as i am getting older i guess im starting to feel a bit more into luxury sport rather then just sport. I looked into the 350 z and test drove one and although they are quite nimble, the g35 was more suited for me. My wife has been talking about this car for ages now, ever since the g35 came out in 03. Every time we spotted a white g35 she would always say dammmnnnn thats nice i so want one. Sure enough last night her car finally sat in our driveway. Looks like we will be building a Nissan/Infiniti family.

Good question....
Lou (waiting for your reply)
Hey sorry for replying so late, Anyhow to answer you questions in the differences here goes.
my 96 M3=
The good:
Awesome road feedback, tight handling, acceleration was on par with the amount of horsepower/torque it originally has from the factory. The vehicle itself felt smaller but agile. Very little to no body roll especially during spirited driving. The M3 is very much a drivers car based solely on performance and engineering.
The Bad:
Had the radiator neck bust on me while driving (common occurance on e36 models) maintenance wasn't to bad but it was still imperative to do it anyways. The ac unit died on me as well as the final stage resistor. Alternator died on me as i was driving also. I did alot of upgrading the basic stuff just to keep the car running. Luckily im somewhat knowledgable in automobiles so i wasn't afraid to tackle any jobs whether it was basic or just simple modding.
To compare it with the G35
G35 the good:
Awesome styling, lines flow extremely well with the car. Nissan/Infiniti did a wonderful job
The interior is hella nice compared to the M3. The steering wheel is very erogonomical, nav system is kick ***. 19 inch stock forged wheels are an elegant design to give a sporty yet subtle classy look to the car. The acceleration is pretty good even in the AT, but it is a luxury/sports coupe thus the acceleration is where it needs to be at for such a combination of the two worlds. The exhaust note is like music to my ears and its stock so that is also a plus.
G35 the bad:
to be honest i havent really come across any bad, and hopefully i wont have to.
I will be 27 this nov 28th and as i get older i tend to see things in a more refined light. The G35 is just the perfect blend of luxury and performance. I know there are cars out there that can go faster but i don't necessarily want to go faster. Its not always about performance, the G is more then fast enough for me to enjoy. I always wonder why sometimes people knock on the g35 for being slow or heavy etc. etc. Personally i think they forget that in this car its not about hitting low 14's or to see who's faster on the highway but the ride quality and build that people like myself and others on this board see this car to be.
Eventually someday ill get another car which will be strictly for the performance, maybe another M3. But for now im very happy with the decision i made.

Glad you like it!!!
Next time you get the G seviced take a look at the exaust system.... that explains the wonderfull sound!!! But it is rather expensive if you ever need to replace it

Lou
