yes, I believe the trans is shared as well as the progression of new models of the trans. they are now on their 9th version of the trans. I don't know whether to be happy that they keep trying to improve it, or sad that they can't get it right the first few times.

2. the G has backseats and a more refined interior
3. the G is initially more expensive but carries a longer warranty, better resale, and better service perks (better loaners at the least)
I was thinking the same thing, but I'm ready to sell my 03 Z for the 06 G35 .. The 07 will come out, if they have a new design dealers will try to jack the prices up for at least 6-8 months.. who want's the pay sticker for a car now a days ??
Buying a car is like buying computers in that regard.
There is ALWAYS something faster, better, etc... just around the corner. If you are constantly waiting for the *new* whatever... you will never buy anything.
Easiest thing to do is to set your budget, figure out your requirements, and buy what makes sense.
Or you could always wait for the next new thing.

the problem here though is that the 07 G may be like a modified 06... it might not be the new concept we've seen.
if it were me, id probably go for the 06 now. there have been a large number of tranny versions... and afaik they've sorted things out by now (ex: my 04 tranny has been pretty good to me)
if you're going to be waiting though, the new MY should come out at the end of this year, so may as well wait for that...

But if there are major changes to the 07...good luck buying wheels, brakes or ground kits......I waited since 03 to buy my G.....they jacked the prices up so high on the Z and the G when they came out...my patience was worth it..I got a used 06 for 10K under the cost of a new one...now people have tried and tested parts that I can pick from...my 2.G cents..lol

They say that the 07 G coupe will be a "facelift" of the current g. A new totally redesigned coupe (supposeably the coupe concept we know) will follow as an 09 (released mid 08'). All these things arent certain, so the best thing you could do is wait and be patient. Im in the same scenario, and im having problems being patiant!!!

There's always going to be a newer, better, something around the corner. Take the plunge whenever you're ready to and pick from what's on the market... Just my opinion.
The G35 and 350z M/T can hold alot of power... some up to 560whp on the stock tranny but it is not very durable. Even under regular driving, you end up having trouble getting the car in gear sometimes.
For instance, I bought my car with 19,000 miles and never knew the 5th gear syncro was shot until I rolled it off the lot and hit 5th gear on the highway ride back home.
A few weeks later I took it to Infiniti (no questions asked) and they gave me a brand new tranny under warranty. 8,000 mi after my tranny was replaced, its now doing the exact same thing... I was on I-4 going just cruising and went to downshift into 5th and it was just not going in smooth. After a trip to Daytona beach and back from orlando I now have a constantly grinding 5th. Lucky me I called Infiniti and I'm gettin a new tranny again.
I know its gonna go out again because I really do granny shift all the time and there's no way its my shifiting. And if it is... then whoever owned my car last had the same problem.
If you shift at around 6400rpms to 5th, you can feel the load being delivered to the syncros and its transfered throught the shift ****. It just doens't feel right and even when I had the brand new tranny I could predict it wasn't gonna last very long.
GETRAG!!!! where are you when we need you?

Hmmm... I've got an 03 MT and I almost ALWAYS mess up my shift into 2nd when I get on it. I'm not new to MT either, been driving a 5spd maxima for 6yrs now. Possible syncho issue or should I just work on my shifts? lol
