Default Would you?

I have a 05 Coupe AT and drive about 30 miles each way to work in LA traffic eveyday. Gas is pretty high now and I average about 18-19 MPG.

I was thinking of getting a four banger to cut my gas bill and also pic up a little beater to have fun in and not trash my G. I saw a 1991 240sx with about 188K in ok cond. It looks its age but drives well...for about $2K. Its stick so it would be fun to drive.

What do you guys think? Good idea or bad?

might as well invest in a prius. in a couple of years, u'll be able to pay for the car itself with the money you save on gas.

I am contemplating the same thing. I use to have a s13 with a sr20det, but got rid of because the gas milage was very bad and I didn't need 2 cars with sub 20 mpg. My best milage to date on my 6MT G is 19.5 mpg with 50/50 city/hwy milage.

I'm considering to pick up a beater civic for my 90 miles round trip commute on the 405. This way I'll save on gas, wear and tear on my G, and get a multiple car discount on my insurance.

I think any 4 banger from Toyota & Honda will do well.

I'm hesitant about buying sports cars, when you already have one, is because eventually you're going to get the itch to mod. Basically a two front battle

everybody knows that you don't save that much money with hybrids; instead, you save the environment. to make up the extra cost on a hybrid, you have to drive over 100K miles.

I wouldn't... I drive 30 miles each way to work and my car makes it enjoyable, if I had to drive some pos to work I'd want to find a job closer to home. But my car is my hobby, so driving might be a little different for me than for you.

In reality if you want to save gas get a beater man. i tired getting an old sporty car and ended up modding it and defeats the purpose. Here is my Hyundai Accent 2001 and im pleased withthe mileage and its stick so still fun to drive and the car is not that slow. LOL!

Its a trip to go from the 350Z TT to this. LOL

Get one of those new Toyota Oeris? or whatever it's called. Brand new it starts at like 12k? and gets over 30? mpg. All I remember is the commericial a while ago. If you get a beater it's just going to break down really fast. Might as well get a very cheap new car w/ great mileage. That car is cheaper then the prius and it's brand new. Go find out.

I got a beat up '95 Subaru for $400. Its leaks oil and the exhaust leaks a little, but besides that it runs fine. It gets about 25mpg and is AWD. Perfect for the winter in the northeast.

Its not only good for the commute to work, but around town if you are worried about getting it dinged up. I always take it to concerts and such because there are always drunk tailgaters.

The best part is after you've driven it a couple says, your G will feel even better.

Yaris. There you go. I only saw the commercial like twice and obviously I was not interested in it too much.

go for a Ford Probe GT. little 4banger, fwd, light, and turbo. my friend beat the hell out of his for a few years launching everywhere and racing anything. eventually he blew his motor but his v6 ranger didn't last him 3 months. or you could pick up an old CRX for less than a grand, that way you already know modding is pointless.

look for a 1992-1995 honda civic VX. gets roughly around 50mpg (when in was new), only has 92hp though and only comes in the hatchback form. you can get that for dirt cheap.

I drive a 95 civic everyday. I paid 700.00 for it. Cost's me about 22.00 to fill up and I get about 240 on a tank. The best part about this car is I have NO worries when I park, drive it! I would say its worth it.
