I traded my Z for a GC :-(
Congrats on the new car; I hope you can learn to love it, especially once you start seeing the new coupes rolling... I had an '03 6MT G Coupe and felt the same "eh, it's a'ight" about it; I just wasn't in love with it. I'm much happier with my Z; there's very little out there that I would trade it for (within the realm of reason).

I would never, ever think of trading in my G coupe for a Z, but that's just me. The thing is, If I ever had to trade, it would definately be the Z
I love the way the G coupe handles (Sport Tuned), the power it has, and the compliments I get daily.
Performance-wise, I really didnt feel the difference when I test drove the two. The new Z's are getting pretty heavy compared to the 03 Z.
(If I had the cash, I would have had both cars in my lot!).
Looks, well they definately have their own personalities.

Just add another 150lb passenger to the Z, and theoretically, you should have the same performance.
I usually never have passengers to begin with anyhow.

The Z is a tad easier to toss around a corner, and the rear-end just seems more tight and communicative. The G seems softer, yet stable.
You feel like you're sitting on the rear-wheels in the Z, whereas in the G, the wheels are "back there" doing their thing.
Just my experience.
im sorry for your loss, and i hope you dont regret the horrible decision too much!
i mean SERIOUSLY white on TAN!?
shoulda gotten white on BLACK! that's where it's at! all about style baby!
although the G isn't the Z, it's still a great car, i almost made the switch myself, but only because my mom said she was gonna buy it and i wouldnt have to pay for my Z anymore! but as we can all see.. that fell through!

Whoah my condolences....that is sad to see your former baby go out like that. I guess it was only meant to have one owner.
It's also amazing how the cabin held up and kept both occupants alive.

am quoting u on this "With the Z, everytime I walked out of a store and saw my Z, I would be like "DAMN, I'D HIT THAT"....but now with the GC, sometimes I come out, and it's more like "EGH, it's aite", the excitement is not the same as the Z...that car was so sexy...the GC doesn't drive the Z...it doesn't handle like the Z..." man, if u don't feel that way about what u have now bro... what can we say Good luck.
I totally agree with him. After driving a ZR if I had to walk out to a GC I would feel bad too.
I don't make a point to rip on the G35, but it blows me away that some G drivers actually rip on the Z.
In a nutshell: G35 = Sporty Car, Z = Sports Car

And here is the new owner's post :

Sorry to see your car leave that way. Hopefully the G grows on you. Maybe knowing that in pretty much the rest of the world the G35 coupe is called a Skyline GT350 will make you feel a little better.

The way many see it (elsewhere besides G35driver.com & my350z.com) , the Z is pure sport, whereas the G35 coupe is sporty, more grown up, and damn classy.
But im actually quite surpriced you felt better in the ZR than the G Coupe; the Z Roaster is heavier than the coupe by about 100 lbs. Personal preference I assume
I completely hate seeing the G vs Z topic; its just so plain stupid. They're similar, yet in their every own manner, distinct from one another. That's why the Z is in the sport car class, whereas the G35 coupe is in the luxury sport coupe class.
They're both great cars for different people
.
Ah Man, I would never have done that. My buddy just got a new G35 Coupe 6MT with the sport package and I like my 07 Z much better, driven and rode in both and let me tell ya, the Z has better visibility, just as nice of an interior, is faster, handles better, etc etc. but I guess if you need a back seat....I am suprised how everyone says the G has a much nicer interior, I don't see it, its just as plasticy as the Z. It does have an analog clock though and dual climate zones. Don't get me wrong, the G is sweet, I'd just rather have a dedicated sports car at that price. Heres some pics of our new rides.
