There have been spottings of the GTR on the streets however they were just test runs, mostly the car has been covered with bras.
Deliveries for the new GT-R will begin in December this year in Japan so I dont imagine you seeing the GTR in US or Canada till mid 2008

In my opinion yes......
1- we live in the US, not Japan.

.. you know what I’m saying.
If your friends pull the rebadged G35, and he wants his money, telling him to show you his registration. His registration is going to say G35. If he keep insisting wait a week bet him the same thing or double but like you have a Enzo. Just get some tape and a sharpie and make a badge for the rear of your car that says Enzo. Any one can rebaged their car whatever they want. Its what the registrations says that count.

it's a skyline...not in the classical gt-r sense, but still classified as a skyline in japan...nissan...infiniti...same thing.
an acura nsx in the states is still a honda nsx in japan. just because it's rebadged doesn't mean it's not the same car (by name).

Hey were not arguing the way it is, cause you’re right that’s just the way its called... personally though I think the Jap’s ****ed up.
Name changes is ok by me.. NSX Honda.. still the same car, its not taking the name of another powerhouse car already with a respectable history.

^true. Some people are mixing up the Skyline name with GTR. A GTR is a model skyline, but a skyline isnt necessarily a GTR. They also have GT, GT-S...

Sheesh, no one around here seems to know WTF they're talking about.
When the R34 body style was replaced with the V35 Nissan explicitly stated that the GT-R would return as a SEPARATE MODEL and would no longer be the top trim level of the Skyline range. With the R32, R33 and R34, the GT-R was simply the top of the line Skyline. With the '08 GT-R, the GT-R is it's own model. There is no more "Skyilne GT-R." There's the Nissan Skyline Sedan (G35 Sedan in the US), Nissan Skyline Coupe (G37 Coupe in the US) and the Nissan GT-R (Nissan GT-R in the US).
R32, R33 and R34 did NOT refer specifically to GT-R models, they were the basic chassis designations for the 8th, 9th and 10th generation Skyline body styles respectively. In other words, a 10th gen (R34) RWD 4 door Skyline GT-T is just as much an R34 as an AWD 2 door Skyline GT-R.
When the 11th generation Skyline debuted, Nissan adjusted the chassis designation to reflect a change under the hood. The V35 Skyline as it was known in Japan (and which was sold here as the G35) was referred to as the V35 and not the R35 because it used a VQ V6 under its hood as opposed to an RB inline 6. The current 12th gen cars are referred to as the V36 generation (07+ G35 Sedan/08+ G37 Coupe here in the US).
As for the GT-R, it will NOT be referred to as an R35 because it no longer uses an RB inline 6 under its hood. No one knows what the chassis designation will be at this point.
In short, THE NEW GT-R IS NO LONGER PART OF THE SKYLINE RANGE. IT IS ITS OWN MODEL. Additionally, the current (V36 gen) Infiniti G's (G35 Sedan and G37 Coupe) JDM counterparts are the (V36 gen) Skyline Sedan 350GT and the Skyline Coupe 370GT.
