Everyone here knows about the Lexus IS-F. Everyone here also should know about the Infiniti Essence concept coupe that debut a little while back.
Purpose: What if Nissan actually built a G class coupe/sedan to rival the F and using the TT 6 cylinder that was debuted in the Essence? While still offering the lesser G37 coupe to maintain the VQ37 as sort of a base model to build a bigger more broader fleet of vehicles. Or possibly the VR38DETT to compete against the IS-F and LF-A. Maybe Nissan already has it in the plan book.
I'm thinking there is potential win for Nissan to go initiate war against Toyota and bring back the olden days with new technology.

Exactly. The GTR is Nissan's top of the line car. The IS-F however is for now but with the introduction of the LF-A soon that will become. But the 20-30k bracket is the Altima and Maxima, the 30-40 range in the G/370Z, the 40-50k is the M35/45. But then there is a skip and the GTR comes in. Nissan could use a 50-60k car which would put it in the league of the M3/IS-F/C63. Nissan could do it. But would it be logical? I guess we will see in the future.

NISSAN NORTH AMERICA ANNOUNCES MAY SALES
Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today reported sales for March of 67,489 units versus 100,874 units a year ago, a decrease of 33.1 percent. Sales of Nissan Division vehicles decreased 32.5 percent, while sales of Infiniti vehicles decreased by 38.1 percent.

Nissan has already reduced their 370Z sales target to around 10K units (from 35K) why would they want to bring in another performance oriented vehicle anytime soon?
If the economy does a major 180, it MAY be feasible, but I don't see it happening.
Those of you who may argue that the G37 convertible came out of nowhere and a performance model could do the same should know that when I was working for Nissan from 2003-2006, quite a few of us in the marketing and product pipeline knew a hardtop convertible from Lexus was coming and Infiniti was planning one as well.

Good post waizz. I fully understand Nissan being in large amounts of debt. It was only just 7-8 years ago when the 350Z debuted that Nissan finally began to work back into positive earnings. The G35 also helped to contribute. Now it's the GTR that's providing a decent comeback. But its some of Nissan's other cars that are doing the worst. The Altima is fairing well in its categories. The Maxima not so much. The Murano and Quest also helped to contribute to a failing Nissan.
I'm believing that if Nissan were to focus more on sports cars and the future they may be back on the steady up. Also team up with larger corps like Toyota and Honda and begin a Force such as the VAG.
Audi believe it or not just began losing money this year. Their Q4 from last year showed profits. But their Q1 showed losses. So if the 3 large Jap corps formed a massive team and go head to head against VAG there would be very very crazy times in the car world. Imagine a Supra GTR-STI-Type R. It would be immense.
But that's something right now sort of out of the question but with rumors that just recently ended of Nissan and Diamler forming up, who knows what could be next. I'm only seeing how a new sports car would help Nissan in these troubling times.

The government is pushing for eco cars… incentives and persuasive encouragement are going to force Nissan (and others) to focus their efforts on engineering alternative fuel vehicles and low mpg petrol burning cars… so its doubtful (and sorrowful) that true performance/sport oriented offerings are the focus.
This is not to say that the new types of creations wont have a “performance” consideration – it’s just that the eco portion will take precedence. Leaving out the likelihood of a bigger displacement turbo’d sports car.
Several years ago I predicated a TT G (before the GTR was released) and I think it would have happened had the economy, current political environment, oil ebb & flow, etc not happened.
I’m clearly no expert – and I hope I’m wrong about the foreseeable future – but unfortunately, I’m pretty certain this is where things are going (at least for now).

It's not going to happen. Nissan sure as hell isn't going to offer another car, regardless of price range, that will steal precious sales from the GT-R. Plus, given the current economy and the new CAFE standards that are coming, I can say with certainty there's no chance of it happening at all.

diesels are great on the highway, but a hybrid still gets significantly better mileage in stop and go traffic. One day we will have a hybrid turbo diesel that will have the best of both worlds.
