Any news on Direct Injection?
I read an article on C&D about a year ago mentioning that Infiniti was working on direct injection engines for the upcoming M and eventually for the G:

I haven't heard anything about this since, and I don't think it was mentioned at all in association with the new M previews.
I was wondering if anyone has heard any news about Nissan's work on direct injection engines?
BTW: In about a year I will be replacing my 350Z with either a used BMW M3 or (most likely, due to my lack of faith in BMW's reliability) a new G37 sedan. My Z will have about 175,000 miles on it by the time I "retire" it (has 153,000 now), and I have been extrememly happy with it so that is a significant reason why I am stronly considering the G for my next car.

My Guess...More than likely will not appear until 2011 in the "M" cars, then the following model cycle for the G&Z's. Looking at it from Nissan's marketing view, why would we offer a engine that is capable of overpowering the Nismo engine in base model form. Bottom line, you can't beat the same year's "Hot Rod" model with a base car. That type of sales canibalism is a no-no. Good news is the next version Z-car will more than likely sport 350-370 base horsepower with just the addition of DFI not to mention any other improvements. If a Nismo is offered with similar spec improvements it should be in the 375-400 horse range. That's close to S2K displacement ratios.
I was going to hold off on purchasing a 2010 G37 Sedan with the hope that the DI engine was coming but, when there was no mention of it for the 2011 M which as stated above was supposed to be 1st, I gave up and bought the 2010. I don't think that Nissan is in great shape financially right now. They didn't show at the LA Auto show and 2010s are going below invoice at their introduction.
