Default VDC button relocation w/pic

So, this is my first post on my350Z, I'm a regular over at 6MT.net. I'm just sharing some of my more useful stuff.

Ok, I spent the good part of sunday playing with two of my fav new toys... my G and my Dremel

I decided that the VDC button really annoyed me so far away, and everytime I drive a little harder than normal the VDC kicks in and steals all of my fun away. So, now I have relocated it convieniently next to the seat heater buttons right behind the shifter.

I know you will all get annoyed at me, cuz I didn't take detailed pics, but hell, I am doing another one on a friend's coupe and I guess I could do it the next time around.

I'll take pics of the final appearance so you can see what it looks like.

First of all thanks for posting that here. There is so much in common between a Z and a G that I wish there was more cross pollination. Both groups have done some really cool stuff.

Secondly, please DO take more detailed pics when you do your friend's coupe and post the details. This looks like a good mod.

Default PS

PS: What did you do to cover the hole where you removed the VDC switch from the stock location?

I am assuming that you just had to lengthen the wires to the switch and then just cut a hole in the area you wanted it, push the switch through and use the surround to cover up and imperfections? I have a an early 6MT coupe, so I have a blank between my seat heaters, any idea if it might fit in there? That would make it a lot easier if it is there and ready to go!!!

Well, it did fit in both of the seat heater holes, so I would assume it would fit the blank also.

Plus side, you don't have to order the blank to fit in the original VDC hole.

Good point about the blank, i didn't even think of that. But was I right about just extending the wires? Or is there somethingelse you need to do, or an easier way?

It's really not that hard to do, just takes some careful hands and some good measurements.

PS. I love my dremel!

Yeah I saw some other guy with a G35 Coupe who did the VDC location change and put his NOS Arming Trigger where the VDC used to be... kinda cool... and HIDDEN =D I'm thinking about doing that as well...

Wow. Somebody needs to post a step by photo thread for this mod. Any takers? You will be popular.

Another idea would be to have VDC automatically disabled at WOT. That would be pretty easy to do.

Or how about having it PERMANENTLY off until you WANT it on? For example, you drive it every day -- every day it will be off. Then when you let your idiot friend, wife, girlfriend of the week, etc.. have it turned ON.

Much better!

I think a switch that stays on whatever you put it on would be cool.I wouldnt want anybody diving my car knowing about the vdc,if they knew they'd probably try it off whenever they have the chance.

I know that a user named Fiddler on www.freshalloy.com came up with a system to have VDC off when you start your car. You can also set it to turn on when you start the car too, just in case anyone else is driving your baby.
