350Z v. G35 Are They Too Much Alike?
I purchased a 350Z a few months ago and I also own a 1997 Saab 9000 Aero, which I use as my practical every day car. I am considering selling the Saab and buying a G35 Coupe as my every day practical automobile. What are your opinions regarding the question of whether or not the 350Z and the G35 Coupe, when owned together, are “too much alike” to give me the expected joy and benefit of owning two truly different vehicles?
Well... if you got the G35C instead of the 350z, you could have one "practical" car with 99% of the same performance as the 350Z, rear seats, sunroof, and better service. Then you won't need the Saab or Z anymore.
I am probably one of very few but I personally did not like the feel of the G compared to the Z.
I'd love to have the G as the more practicle car. But IMO I think if your going to spend that amount of money I would take it as a chance to own a different type of sports coupe.
Just my opinion....

totally diff cars.
Gt vs sports car
My wife almost got a g35 - but wound up with an fx35 instead.
Now THATS a winning combo!
Who needs rear seats.
Also, the Fx35 (tech package) has some really cool toys and a slamming stereo.
That said, I still like driving the Z more. It fuels my rebellious spirit (makes me drive like an *******)

Yes, I think they're too much alike. The only thing you can do in a G35 Coupe that you can't do in a Z is carry two more (short) people, and look a little more elegant and sophisticated versus sporty and aggressive.
I would encourage you to buy almost anything else, or, if you need the seats/look, replace the Z with the G.
I think the only sensible VQ35/FM-platform combo would be a FX35 with a Z Roadster. Or go with the G35x Sedan instead of the FX. But G Coupe plus Z Coupe makes no sense, pick one or the other.

I wouldn't consider the Coupe a "practical" choice. It has no back seat room to speak of. And the trunk room is lacking as well. I haven't driven a Z, but the Z seems like a more "focused" sports car. The G just happens to be a great-looking compromise for people who need a back seat of some kind.
As someone else suggested, I'd be looking at a G35 Sedan as an everyday car. With the killer deals I've been seeing on the '03s, I'd even consider an M45. Either way, I'd keep the Z and buy a four-door for everyday use if practicality was a priority.

FX35 is pretty fast considering its weight and all, and its HOT!! and can be pratical for all seasons and the Tech package as said before is sweet.
G35C and 350Z too much alike to have both at the same time.

if you are going to go FX why not go 45!!!!

But I agree they are VERY similar cars...people will go back and forth about this and that, but in the end they are virtually identical...pure sports car vs more luxorious sports coupe...G is just a 2+2 Z

You still got it wrong, foo'
I've seen this spelled 6 ways if once - in the words of the late great J.B., EXCUSE ME!!! If you don't know who JB is, look it up.
All I know is the 45 would be sitting in my drive right now, it rocks and if my woman didn't call it "hideous" (not just ugly), it's a great bookend to a G or a Z...but you have to respect your other half, too.
Just in case you need some visual aids, check out what the JDM V35 "G" is running for AL'S-TEZZZ-SIAAA!
