Default Tire feathering on my 2004 G35C

With only 8700 easy miles on my new G....tire feathering!
Anyone else with this problem? I had a 2003 350Z with the same problem and it was one of the reasons I traded it for the G.
This really ticks me off!!
I called Infiniti customer affaires and they acted like I was the first to report this problem, (just like my Z). I told Infiniti
don't even try to tell me this is a characteristic of the car.
Anyway I have a file started with customer affaires and we'll see where this goes.... Stand by for more.

I've had my 04 G35c for 6000 miles and no tire feathering. In fact, I frequent this board and G35driver.com and this is the first time I've heard of it.

My dealer here in Nashville says he's had several complaints and on every car the alignment was with in specs.

I also had it on my Z. So far my g35 has been fine but it only has 800 miles on it. I'm planning on lowering it pretty soon so I'll make sure that I get it alligned.

uneven wear of the insides of the tires. most likely due to a bad alignment.

Did you take it to the dealership to have them check it out? Tire feathering is not a widespread issue with the G35 Coupe as it is with the Z. Your experience seems abnormal, but that does not mean it isn't a valid issue.

Unless your car is lowered, you should not be experiencing tire feathering. If it has been lowered, take it to a reputable shop and have it aligned. My .02.

Nope, no lowering, stock. I hope your correct! I don't know about my dealer, I made an appointment to have it checked out, when I got there the service manager told me he has had several people complain about the feathering problem and every car they checked was with-in spec. They then inspected my wheels and under the car to see if there was any damage, finding none I was told that was all they needed to do to respond to customer affaires and the didn't need to put it on the alignment machine, unless I had a couple hours to waste. I let it go with that, (wish I had not). Going to give customer affaires a week, then I start calling them back.

All my experiences with tire feathering have been from bad struts/shocks or unbalanced tires. Most bad alignments just cause abnormal/accelerated tire wear.

My G is experiencing the same feathering problem. Very annoying especially when slowing down! I have an appointment Thursday with the dealer... 13k on the odometer, switched to a snow set during the winter months.

Default feathering

Mine is a 2004 , G35C-6MT , 7500k miles (not lowered) and yes I have feathering on the fronts (both inside and outside edges). At this rate they will be toast by 10-12k miles. But I am use the symptom as an excuse (to my wife) for upgrades to 19"s . I'll re-align before hand.

Default Update on my tire feathering problem

Well, I got a letter back from Infiniti Consumer Relations.

Infiniti says Quote; Infiniti carefully considered your request during a review of all the available facts pertaining to your specific situation. Based on the fact that our dealer has found that your vehicle issue is not due to manufacturer's defect, at this time Infiniti is unable to offer financial assistance with the repair of your tires.

I called Infiniti back and asked "what available facts are you talking about?" The only facts they had was my description of the feathering of the inside edge of the tires! They did nothing else to investigate the problem. The customer Rep then went on to say that the G35C doesn't have that problem. My response was, well, it does now because I’m reporting it now, she just repeated G35C doesn't have that problem! (DOH). I said it’s feathering just like my 2003 350Z did. Her response was “The G35c and the 350Z are totally different cars, and it was like yes they are…no there not, a few times and I gave up. I decided to gather some facts of my own, I had an alignment done and it turn out my left front toe was ok, the right front toe was at -.09 deg, range is 0.00 to 0.08 deg way out. The rear tire camber were at –2.1 deg and –2.2 deg range is –1.8 to –0.8, again way out. I faxed the computer print-out of the alignment to Infiniti and requested they pay for the alignment and reconsider helping me with the front tires. They cut me a check for the alignment and the verdict is still out on the tire / alignment defect? Causing my tire feathering. I have filed a complaint with Auto Line (operated by the Council of Better Business Bureaus Inc.) They arbitrate disputes. Well that’s my story so far.

Had My 2004 checked at the dealer last Monday ..
Inisted on them checking it..
And guess what they found.. both the Front And Rear were out of specs... I only had 1900 miles on my car..
I would say.. get them checked.. My car was built 03/04 the Tech Bulletin came out in 05/04 so there was a problem it seems with the alignment issue..

My dealer checked the front alignment and said everything was within specification. They did rotate the fronts at no charge. The roaring is gone for now but for how long... Still don't know what caused the feathering in the first place.

How did they rotate your tires?
don't you have two different sizes? front one size , back another size?

They took the tires off the rims and switched them. Fronts only.

No feathering here.

So they rotate the tires, don't find and fix the problem, turn the tires around so they will wear the other side of the tire.

You will be out of warranty, worn out tires they will not cover, have to buy new tires and try to fix the problem your elf.

Un acceptable in my opinion.
