Default 5AT owners, need help understanding something about SportShift mode

I'm in SS from a stop, and once moving, I shift gently (~2.5k rpms) into 2nd. Now in 2nd I start to press down the gas pedal to about 3/4 throttle to get going a bit more enjoyably. I push the stick to upshift to 3rd at around 4.5k rpm in 2nd while maintaining constant 3/4 trottle on the gas pedal.

When the car shifts, there is a noticeable "thump" during it - what I guess is) the clutch packs re-engaging for 3rd gear after releasing 2nd. Is this normal? It has happened every time I (only been a handful of times I've bothered to) accelerate strongly like that.

Comments:

It feels like someone shifting very aggressively in a manual and really grabbing 3rd hard.

It could just be a characteristic of RWD cars with a driveshaft, which I've never owned before with a sportshift automatic.

If it's normal, that's awesome that it grabs so solidly for an automatic.

If it's not normal, it's disturbing and maybe my trans needs to be looked at.

It grabbing so solidly makes me think I should be letting off the gas between shifts, even though I know that is not necessary for sportshift. My previous car (CL TypeS) had sportshift and the shifts were very smooth and gentle.

FWIW, I have around 1350 miles on the car.

I think it's normal, mine does the same thing, firm shifts both up and down. You don't need to lift throttle either, it's made to be able to shift at WOT.

At higher RPM's it shifts some what abrupt, at lower RPM's its a little more soft of a shift.
I think it's normal.

It's because you are short shifting... either let off the gas some or let it wind out more.
