Default Plenum and Warranty

Anyone know the details about aftermarket plenums and the factory warranty?

I'd like to go with a crawford or kinetix plenum next but I'm afraid that my dealer might void my warranty.

crawford is essentially a modified stock plenum.

if you have the kinetix, you can put the stock plenum back on before bringing it into the dealer.

If anything goes wrong, the dealer has to prove the mod caused the problem by law. So they can't just void your warranty. So it's up to you.

the aftermarket plenum voids warranty....but some dealers will let it slid.....Example they had a kid with a SE-R sentra put a AEM intake on his car and rotated the mass air flow sensor in the wrong position and then the intake tube had a flimsey bracket keeping it from moving.....well from the movement of the motor and the intake the wires shorted out and fryed the MAS.....1st time under warranty.....second go round he was paying for it....b/c he did not secure the intake tube that he installed....

warranty is a good thing sometimes b/c that MAS list for close to 500 bucks I know believe me.....so he would have blown 1000 on just parts and now just 500bucks

Yes. I brought my sedan in to hopefully have the transmission replaced. I was really worried that my Crawford pleneum would give them a out and they'd say no, I also had a Injen CAI at the time. I had managed to install my oem engine cover over the top on the pleneum, keeping in mind that the G35 engine cover covers the entire pleneum. Well after driving the car they told me they were ordering me a new tranny. I questioned if he noticed the pleneum he replied, "yeah we noticed the fancy welds and I knew it something was up". I thanked him for his attitude. He replied that frankly the mods were a non issue since the mods looked professionally installed and the car was obliviously well maintained.
