Default Question for the all knowing

I'm getting ready to have the following work done:

crawford intake phlenum
injen cold air intake
DC ceramic headers
injen true dual exaust
stillen test pipe (cats removal)

My question is do I need to have any work done on the ECU to maximize these modifications (other than the O2 sensor) or will the factory ECU pick up on the changes on it's own and simply add more hp/tq with out having to be tweeked.

Thanks in advance for any replies

you dont NEED to do anything to the ECU because all of those mods will make a difference, but i would recommend the technosquare ECU reflash to make sure your AF mixture isnt to lean. The ecu will adjust most likely after a couple days if you leave it alone. The reflash costs $600(i think) and a couple of days where your car is useless because you send them the ecu.

Will the technosquare reflash directly increase HP/TQ?? Obviously you won't want your engine to run lean. I'm thinking that it is not unrealistic to see 40 hp gain from these modifications, maybe even a little more.

if your gonna spend all of that money on all those parts, I would spend a little extra on the TS reflash to make them run optimally.

sorry, but 40 is a bit high. 25 maybe. you should do a before and after dyno, and maybe a dyno after the reflash.

You don't need to do a reflash At All with those upgrades. If you want to maximize the power, run higher octane gas instead hehe. Seriously though, a reflash will probably help, no doubt, but it won't be anything too drastic. I'd be extremely surprised if you get even $5-8 hp from it after these mods. I wouldn't worry about it IMHO.

I would disagree on the ecu...given those mods there is no way I would do it without a flash. yes the factory ecu has some room to adjust....but it is far from optimally suited to "agree" with all those mods.

I personally picked up 12 hp and 11 ft lbs on my car and I had less mods than you at the time......a PROPERLY done flash is very worthwhile IMHO.

Also, what year is your Z?

you will have no ecu reflash problems, if you had a 2004 it would be different. with the ecu not only do you get better fuel maps and correct AF ratio throughout the band, but you get a raised rev limiter(to 7000) and the top speed limiter removed.

can you take your car to a tuner and have them dyno, then do a flash based on YOUR car's specific mods...?? thats what i would do if it was possible to get the most benefit out of a reflash and your car's application. also, why is the year so important here? thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions
