I am going to see if I have time today to post the dynos of the test pipes. Both my graphic designer and my webmaster have been swamped with our ads and catalogs for 2005 so they have not had even a chance to put up the dynos. I will try my best to get this up today or tomorrow.

Please refer all alphwerks testpipe discussion to the following thread:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=108865

There you can see the video of the dyno / sound clips / and the actual dyno results.

Best results,

Hi Victor,

What about the RASP noise if using ur test pipes with ur headers? I have chosen to purchase Alpha Werks Headers but to solve the RASP problem i am leaning toward kinetix resonated testpipes + ur headers

I have seen video of the dyno with ur test pipes.. but i believe based on what people r saying.. the RASP is more noticable when the car is bieng driven not dynod..

What people are saying this b/c I am installing the alphawerks test pipes and I had the same concerns. I heard the dyno clip and the actual car and it sounds the same. The car goes through RPM's and whether it is on the dyno rollers or on the street the sound is the same. In fact, I would actually think that a rasp would be more noticable when the car is in a quiet enclosed area such as a dynolab. On the street there is much more noise that would take away from being able to hear the rasp.

Just my 2 cents. But I will definitely know when I install them. But I do agree that they are pricy, but you know the saying....But hey I got them for free but the dynos proved it and I will see personally soon. Maybe when I do my install with Alphawerks I can convince Nexus to give my350z.com members a discount ...At least knock like $100-150 bucks off...what do you guys think...I just don't want to overstay my welcome by pressing them for a discount b/c they are giving me the products at cost to dyno them...

Hey metalz, when are you planning on installing the headers / test pipes and doing the dyno?

As soon as I take my car to the dealer b/c it is making a clicking noise when I turn in the rear. I do not want to go to the dealer with the parts because you never know what kind of bs they will try to pull on you about warranty. It will be done this month. I know that the guys at Nexus are just waiting for me to schedule dyno time, b/c they want me to dyno and post the results asap.

i don't understand your reason for taking so freakin long to dyno. i have had all kinds of mods on my car for over a year, have had all the factory-recommended servicing done at the dealer, and no one has ever said anything. the only time they might say something is if something is wrong with the system you have modified.
btw, if you have a clicking sound in the rear when you decel and turn, mine had it too. there is a tsb on it, and the dealer will repair it free.
are you saying that with the headers and testpipes, you will never again go to the dealer for service? that exhaust mods will void your warranty? not gonna happen. are you gonna pull your mods off everytime you take the car to the dealer? that's ridiculous.

Different dealers act differently to mods. Most of the time, they do not like them and think they can void your warranty without them knowing the law.

I think that maybe we should be more cautious of the words we use in our posts. I do not think that "metalz" is being "rediculous." He wants to do things his way and since we are only sponsoring him, I have to abide by his wishes to allow him to service his car. It would not be a very good business practice for us to tell the sponsored members of my350z.com what, when and where they can service there cars. Trust me I want him to dyno the car asap but you must remember that he is donating his time and car so that we can gather more inforation on a product for the other members here.

Best regards,
Victor D.

Hey Metalz:

I've taken my car to Maroone Nissan (on US1) with my intake and they haven't said anything about it. Got my rear clicking noise fixed as well (there's a TSB on it). If you go there talk to Aaron, cool guy, he can help you out.

Yeah w/ 3k you can do alot...

AEM Intake --> ~$250 = 5hp
Alphawerks Header --> ~$700 = 17hp
Alphawerks Downpipe --> ~$300 = 11hp
Injen/Greddy Exhaust --> ~$900 = 7hp

Total ~$2150 = cant add up the horsepower but with these mods you can tack on about 25-30hp
__________________________________________________________

25-30WHP Not a chance!
AEM Intake = 0 maybe even losing HP
And teh rest of your number COULD be right individually but together you have to consider the law of diminishing returns.

My guess is for 3K spent that way you will gain 20WHP MAX.

Enthuziast...

You are absolutely correct that you cannot just add up the horsepower numbers and get that actual number with all the parts in combination. I assumed from my experience with the AEM intake on other vehicles that it would be good for at least 5hp. Maybe a short ram is the answer for the Z instead of a CAI? I know that on our Scion tC that is the case as well as with a TSX we tinkered with last year.

But 20WHP-25WHP collectively is definitely what I would expect out of a setup such as this (that is of course if the AEM intake does actually help instead of hinder). From our experience with the Z what really opened the engine up was the test-pipes as far as ease of fitment and bang for your buck.

Take care,

Victor, did you ever figure out if your headers will work on the Turbonetics kit?

Those are the stock manifolds, do you think the Alphawerks headers would clear the piping?

I think the reason AEM does not help is taht we are already C.A. from the factory as our inlet is past the radiatior. I hope you are correct on those numbers but I would say the odds are not in your favor.
