Default I've been thinking about headers..

and exhaust for weeks now....I want some extra bang for the buck. That's my main reason for doing it.

I don't want it much louder either so, that's why I am leaning towards headers, stock cats, and a cat back exhaust.

Right now....I like these Alphawerks headers and the Stillen exhaust.

Still not sure though

If you're going to pay for headers and an exhaust you might as well upgrade to high flow cats. You'll likely see modest gains with a header/exhaust and then tremendous gains when you install the cats because the stock units will still be choking off some of your exhaust flow whether you get the other two components or not.

It was even my understanding that some experts thought the cats were the most restrictive part of the exhaust.

...but I've also heard some guys are going back to stock cats because of problems with cracks and noise.

Some also say it's the Y pipe that causes the restriction and if you look at the original dyno sheets on these Alphawerks, they were installed on a bone stock Z.

So....if I can get gains like that and still keep the stock cats, then I'll be happy.

But I'm stilll deciding.

I would really like to see someone comment on the construction and ease of fitment of this unit. I have enough money to buy headers and exhaust with my tax refund. I already have a y-pipe and high flow cats so I am really curious as to how much power a set of headers and exhaust will add.

whats up? I have the headers installed in my car and this was a review I wrote about when I got my car back. :
Well, I have had my car now for a couple of days and I am extremely excited about the turn out. To make sure that I made a proper assesment of the vehicle and how the headers compared with a stock 350z, I went ahead and drove my friends stock 350z for a couple of hours (we traded off ), and then took mine out. To begin, I'd like to thank the crew at Powertoyz for installing it along with the sponser for testing it on my vehicle! Well, I couldn't be happier with the outcome!!!! As you can see with the pictures that have been posted of the headers, they are definitely of the highest quality. When you open the hood, you don't really notice then until you get the sun to shine in and you see the gleam of the stainless steel...it looks beautiful!!! But moving on to its performance (which everyone is looking for), You can definitely feel a difference with the car. When you first turn it on, the car has just a tad bit of a louder note to the exhaust (nothing gigantic). Once you take off it just feels fantastic (it seemed to let the engine flow a lot smoother... as well, to my ears, the exhaust note seems to be more apparent)!!! Launching and driving at the lower gears, you don't seem to notice a big differnce (going to the track soon so I'll give you the numbers when I have them), but where the car really shines is at top end!!! Stompping on the throttle at those higher gears, the car pulls a lot harder!!!! And its not a subtle pull, it just pulls a lot harder than when the car was stock!! My first impression of what a difference the headers made was when I was just cruising on the highway and I punched it and it took off! I was very impressed by the power that was gained at higher speeds. Getting to 100mph is a lot quicker now than before. As well, proceeding to the higher speeds you also see that you reach them a lot easier. I can't wait to see what times I can get at the track. I noticed largely that there was a difference when I raced my boss! He has an 04 STi with pretty much every bolt-on possible....regardless, he's running low 12s (soon to be high 11s).... he traunced me the first time we raced!!!!! We raced yesterday, and he was more impressed than me!!!!! i kept up a lot better this time than the first!!!! But all in all, I am definitely happy with the product....If you guys have any specific questions, this is my first review so I'm not too sure on what everyone would be looking for, but again if there is anything specific that you want to ask me, don't mind PM me or writing it in this post.

since I wrote the post, I have enjoyed the headers and I can't wait for more products for the company! any questions feel free to PM me.

Yea, what's up with this guy? He's the primary reason I haven't bought the headers yet.

Can't keep his ******** out of even one thread.

What sorts of gains did you notice with the Y pipe and cats? Were they significant?

thanks.

It's my understanding that he is affiliated with Nexus or something. At least that is what I read (and tend to believe). I apologize if I make the wrong assumption from what I read.

Victor at Nexus appears to be a standup guy, its just that their numbers don't seem to add up. I'm certainly waiting to pass judgement on the product though.

AFAIK he just tested the headers for Nexus.

Victor is a nice guy. I agree about the numbers, they DO seem extreme, but...they have offered at least a few times for anyone on this board to test some headers...that's after they provided one member with a set of headers to help add to the claimed gains.

Hello all...

I want to make one thing clear here....

COJ_General not associated at all with Nexus Industry...I have never even met COJ_General. He is a guy that owns a 350z just like everyone else here and we sponsored his car. We gave him the parts at cost and covered the dyno so that we could have a member of your board do the dynos. I believe that most of you appreciated that and it was our pleasure to sponser a member.

Members here wanted a my350z.com member to do a dyno. We got a member to do the dyno. But, there are those who are still not happy? Well it is a bit frustrating, but now we got another board member to do a test with the headers and our testpipes. His sig is metalz. He has been on this board for over a year so there is no way he can be associated with us because these headers were prototyped like 6 months ago. His dynos will also be on the forum.

But again I am here to help you guys out in any way possible and to meet any request I can. I welcome all your participation. If you have any questions for COJ_General PM him, if you live in South Florida I am sure you know him from the car meets. Again I have never personally met COJ_General, but it was a pleasure to sponsor him and his enthusiasm for Alphawerks Racing Development 350Z headers is well founded from the performance and quality he got at a cost to us...but again we did the sponsorship for all of you here to see the results.

Best regards,
Victor D.
