Default Injen owners click here! (question for you...)

Quick question... I love the look and power of the injen exhaust... but from the sound clips that are still working, it seems a bit too loud/rumbly for my tastes without the silencers

Has anyone with the injen SES (straight or angled tip) run w/ the silencers before? any sound clips?

I'm hoping the silencers will bring the sound back to stock levels...

Your help is appreciated

Default injen true dual exhaust (angle tips)

I have silencers on my angled Injen exhaust & it does tone it down a bit. I installed them after I had my Hi-flows & headers were done as it was too loud w/o. The angled tips are suppose to be louder than the new straight tip ones. As such, even w/ silencers it will be louder than stock. Sorry, no sound clips.

the new straight tipped injen SES systems come with built in silencers. still the exhuast is loud at low rpms. higher rpms show that the intake is louder. i think i might switch from ym straight to the angled or single exhuast. the angled exhuast from injen is more straight threw and the silencers are removable. this exhuats might yeild more gains than the straight tipped. a single exhuast would actually hurt my gains. injen has proven to be the best performing exhuast in terms of HP. while stillen shows similar gains, its looks dont come close to matching injen's and the Stillen is very quite.

i like the single because of its appeal. its very racey and jdm. although im not going jdm or wont be racing my Z, one big tip and muffler reminds me of my supra. i really really like singles!

I am not sure what silencers you are talking about on the exhaust. I have the straight out the back (like stock) setup my injen and when I was looking through it, I did not see anything inside (it was hard to see even with a flashlight because of the bends). It just looks like straight through glass pack.

I have noticed the car is louder on the inside than the outside especially between 2000 and 2900. After reading quite a few other exhaust threads, I think this is part of the harmonics of the trunk area and not specific to this exhaust. I got rid of some of volume by removing the heat shield under the trunk (for the old system), I have also added Fatmat but I think to smooth out the rest of the sound in this area of the RPM I am going to undercoat the trunk and wheel wells.

For real sound abatement, separating the trunk (the whole trunk, not just the section behind the strut bar) would probably eliminate it or at least cut it by 2/3.

I still love this exhaust, I am just doing some tuning to make the whole experience what I am looking for.

im assuming you have the straight tipped SES...right? well if you do, your not going to see the silencers. they are built in the mufflers and even if you could get a light to go past the bends, you yourself wouldn't be able to see them. visit injen's website. it states the reason for the change from the angled to the straight tip SES. one reason for the change was to eliminate the inconvienence of having to remove or install the silencers. they solved that problem by incorperating the silencer into the muffler. i assume this would affect performance which is why i am considering the switch. either way, im not at all disappointed with my SES, but that if the angled produces more HP, i want that one. i think it looks cool anyways.

Could you give me a link to that page, I can't seem to find anything but a picture and some sound clips.

I'm gonna check that out when I get home from Tampa.

I might have a camera I can run down the pipe to have a look around in there.

i would be very interested to see what these silencers looks like. although injen claims they are there, im wondering if that look similar to removable silencers.

More than likely it will be a little video made with a pinhead camera attached to some heater hose with lighting supplied by an LED flashlight, I am not expecting miracles, but it should be something. I'll be back home by Thursday so I hope to check it out this weekend.

Do you have any pics of the old removable silencers?

Its too loud for you? I <3 how my straight tip injen sounds with the test pipes. I actually wish i would of got the angeled (if they were still being produced by injen) just cause its even louder

350evo.com has a used angled tipped injen ses for sale. i think they want around 500 for it. worth the money considering two things. 350evo.com is a legit company, which means you will have no worry at all and two, despite being used, i dont know how miles or use really affects an exhuast system, unless it has huge dents in it, which i doubt.

btw: i do like the straight tip, but i like i said earlier i want either a single or the angled. single for the JDM look and the angled for pure performance. im pretty sure there is better gains with the angled VS the straight tipped injen SES's.

If i would have known that before i bought my Straight tip i would of bought an angeled. And sound does differ a little bit, i noticed the day i got the exhaust was a little louder then what it is now, just cause it was brand new.

you might have made the mistake of buying the straight tip first or before you knew 350evo.com had a used one for sale, but dont make the same mistake and miss the angled SES from 350evo.com. you can easly sell your straight tip for the same or more than what it would cost to buy and ship the angled SES from 350evo.com. quick buy the angled and post the straight tip for sale! i asure you that the straight tip will sell before you get the angled, i mean everyone has or wants this injen exhuast. just another reason why i want the angled one or a single.

Default Injen true dual exhaust (angle tips) exchange w/ straight tips

I have the angled tips & would consider swapping w/ a straight tip. Here are pictures of mine. They are about 8 mos. old. It's a bit too loud for me, but I really like the design though. Let me know if you are interested. You can send me your pics at jlimquest@earthlink.net.
Thanks,
Jeff

How many miles on the exhaust? Mine have less then 1000 on them.. (My car only has 2300miles and got the exhaust well into half of that.)
Iam guessing for 8mos thats close to what 8,000 miles on them? You would have to add some cash cause 1 the straight tips are worth more, and i need $$ to uinstall and install them, iam broke .
Can you tell me how much louder angeled tips are vs the new Super SES straight ips? Idk if the new "Super" ses means anything, but my straight Super ses injen exhaust sounds louder on my Z then on my friends G, and he has the older version of them where its just straight ses injen exhaust. We have the same upgrades, so can you explain that?

its louder, i think, in a sense of length really. the old injen ses seems to be as loud as the new injen at its highest point, while continuing to become louder with each increasing rev.

Default Pathetic excuse for a performance part.

Loosing Grip II, you were right!

I told you I would shove a camera down their and I did, took a cheap USB cam and a USB light taped to some heater hose and got this video.

http://www.hypersprite.com/auto/vide...en_str_tip.wmv

From what I can tell, it looks like 3/4 down the back pipe there choke, I cant measure it,but it looks like it might be 1.5 (maybe 1.75) inch tube. I am sorely disappointed, nothing about a choke is "performance".

Also, this might be why the Injen has a tendency to blow glass, if exhaust is being forced through the packing to try to get around this choke, it's gonna blow glass until it clears enough out to stop the restriction.

They would have been better off going with a spiral glass pack like greddy uses than to choke their exhaust with this thing. So sad
