V6/V8 domestic owners: Exhaust expertise required!!!
So I recently purchased an Injen SES (straight tips). The sound is absolutely incredible above 2500 rpm, which means zero drone at highway cruising speeds in 5th/6th and an awesome, unique roar at WOT. The problem is, below 2500 and under partial load/acceleration... there's a pretty annoying drone. It's not one of those ricey, honda type drones, but more of a domestic V6/V8 rumble that, unfortunately, gets pretty annoying especially in stop and go traffic since I can't possibly time every shift to land above 2500 rpm.
So this lead me to start looking for some universal silencers to stuff down the muffler tips.. the problem with silencers though, as we all know, is that they causes a loss of power... which lead me to another option... an X/H pipe
That's where i need your help!
For folks with mustangs, corvettes and so forth... I've read that adding an h/x pipe to a true dual exhaust system has done wonders for:
A) cutting down drone/exhaust noise
B) scavenging low rpm torque
Which would be PERFECT for an injen SES, since these two issues are the only problems with the system IMO. So my question is... when you added or heard an exhaust with an added H-pipe, did it really make a difference?
How hard is it to add an h-pipe to a true dual system?
I went on summit racing and found a part called "h-pipe ends" which would probably make the job pretty simple... but my concern is that it's not going to do anything for the sound
Any thoughts?
