The Great 350Z Exhaust Price SHOOTOUT!
So there I was, it was around 2am and I had about one too many Cherry Cokes. I had been staring at the forums waiting for a new post when it occured to me. What is one thing the people of this forum need? They need fair pricing on exhausts, of course. But, where would I start? I went down the list of "sponsors" and found the numbers for all of them. I then picked out two popular internet sites: Intense Motorsports, and Hop Up Racing. Today I called up each and everyone in the hopes of getting the best deal possible on one of three popular JDM exhausts:
Tanabe Hyper Medallion
Blitz Nur Touring
Fujitsubo Legalis R
I called back a few who said they were willing to work on pricing and once I got a price no one would go down on I stopped. My results are compiled in the attached MSWord Document.
Here are some comments on the companies involved:
Performance Nissan:
Spoke to Tony, he said the forum discounts only apply to Nismo merchandise and that he cannot go below list on anything else. This is strange as Jason from PN has lowered prices for me before. He said to me, "I can't work on pricing." I'll let the sheet speak for itself... pricing was average.
Forum Discount: Kinda... Nismo Only
Everything 350z.net:
Very friendly staff but did not have nor could get any of the exhausts I wanted. They are just starting out and he is still gathering vendors at the moment.
Forum Discount: Yes.
350zForums.org:
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff that contacted me back promptly the first time. But, when I called back to see if they could beat a lower price I found, he said he would call me back and never did.
Forum Discount: Yes
MVP Motorsports:
OVERPRICED. Both their list prices and call-in prices were rediculous with no budging at all on prices. As a matter of fact the call-in price for the blitz was $1,069 list and then 1,109 not including shipping when I called in. WTF?! Also, even though they are a sponsor they do not offer discounts... Double WTF.
Forum Discount:No
350zOnlineStore.com:
Spoke to Bryan. Very friendly and knowlegable staff that did not keep me on hold for long periods of time. Some of the best no haggle pricing I have seen for us forum members.
Forum Discount: Yes
Intense Motorsports:
Friendly, very fast service and very negotiable.
Forum Discount: Yes
Hop Up Racing:
The best list pricing. Even better call-in and haggle pricing.
Forum Discount: Yes
I did not contact the local distributors (The ones on the Tanabe website
in Florida) since I doubted they could beat the pricing. Plus, I was tired.
