Default Short Review: Nismo Intake, Headers, Exhaust + Crawford Hi-Flow Cats

I know this setup has probably been covered before but I thought I would share my opinion anyway. Yesterday I had the Nismo Headers and Crawford Hi-Flow Cats installed on my Z to complement the Nismo Intake and Exhaust which I already had on. I have to say that I am pretty pleased with the results. The car feels much more responsive and seems to accelerate much easier than before, so that you feel this 'swift' increase in speed as you press down on the throttle. The sound the whole setup makes is also much different than before. I, of course, noticed a difference in sound when I had the intake and exhaust installed but these new mods add a whole new dimension to it. I can still hear the intake whistle but the exhaust now sounds deeper and produces what sounds like a flatter note. It is louder but in an inconspicuous sort of way so that it doesn't sound too loud or obnoxious. I know a couple of people have had problems with fitment issues or leaks but so far it looks like I got a good set of both mods. I also had the headers coated with Jet-Hot Gray 2K coating before having them installed to keep things as cool as possible and to extend their life as much as possible too. So all in all, I am a pretty happy dude. I know mods can only do so much for our cars but these did meet if not exceeded my expectations. I recommend the setup to anyone looking to give their Z that extra 'push'. I haven't had my Z dyno'd but I will be sure to post the results up when I do.

Sounds cool. I have been seriously considering Nismo headers. What price did you get for these with shipping?

I got the headers for $1,125.00 from a local dealership. I think it's what people usually pay for them if not a little less. I was also considering the Crawford Headers but went with the Nismos cause of warranty issues. This guy I know at the dealer said he'd take care of me if something ever went wrong. Whichever set you go for I would definitely get them coated at Jet-Hot or somewhere similar. I think it's worth the price in the long run. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

do nismo headers - which are type R - R as in Racing, not S as in Street - do they actually have a dealer backed warrenty? My impression was there was no warrenty. Ask a few people at the dealership, not just the parts guy.

They don't technically have a warranty but i've known this guy for a long time so I know that if anything ever comes up he would help me out. He's helped me out in certain ways before. They're actually not supposed to even be installing them from what I understand.

Sr. Panza,

Glad to hear your happy with your mods! I hope to have the same impression after I install my headers and HF cats... the exhaust will come later

Did the guy at Nissan say anything about your a/f mixture being lean or rich after all these mods? Just curious... I'm going by my dealership and ultimateZ tomorrow to ask a few questions about the ECU and "certain" mods.

I think you'll be very satisfied when you install yours. He really didn't mention anything about my a/f mixture but I plan on doing some research on whether I should do something about it right away or not. I have to think about what mods I will be doing next. I also read a thread yesterday where different people complained about poor performance after resetting their ECU's after installing certain mods. I would hate to run into that problem. Good luck with your mods! Let me know how they turn out.

I dropped my car off in the morning and picked it up right before they closed so I don't know exactly how much time they took for the actual install. However, I believe it usually takes between 4 - 5 hours.
