maxipad96, Do you know a good 350Z performance shop in the Atlanta area?

For $795 the Speed Force Racing Cat-back seems like a good deal (not to mention it's made right here in the USA). Twin Borla mufflers mounted quasi-inline with gas-flow, idk. Anyone have any thoughts on these? I know that on there dyno vid (TT kit pushing 439hp on stock internals) the exhaust sounds simply demonic, anyone heard this exhaust/have any opinions on it? (don't mean to high jack the thread, it started as a suggestion) Thanks.

EDIT: Oh, and Crawford headers for sure.

Uhhhh.....if you believe there is any cat-back exhaust that gives 18lb-ft of torque on an otherwise stock motor, I have a lot of other things I would like to sell you. Intake, plenum, headers(coated), hi flow cats, exhaust all together will get you about a 18-20hp gain, maybe 25 with an ECU reflash, and maybe a 10-b-ft gain in torque, both in the upper power band.

+1

If I were replacing headers etc. I would keep my Nismo exhaust and get Crawford headers and HF cats. There is no reason you can't mix and match to get exactly what you want.

Yeah, but the Nismo has the most annoying freeway drone at 75 mph it's enough to drive you crazy. I'm pretty happy with my Stillen, it's not high pitched raspy at all and I have crawford plenum, headers and cats. Very smooth and has a nice low end rumble.

Believe it or not the best sound was with the crawford package and stock exhaust--very exotic and different sounding. The Stillen had a nice performance gain over even the Nismo though as well.

Borla TD exhaust, Crawford headers and cats. That's my set up and I like the way it sounds and performs. I also like the Nismo and Injen exhausts. Really they are all pretty good products. Depends on what you want to spend and to some extent what sound you like.

The 75mph Nismo drone completely disappeared for me once I installed my coated Nismo headers, and the overall sound was not any louder whatsoever, just a little deeper and fuller.

I've never had a drone with the Nismo but then I have stock manifolds and cats.

It's very likely the Crawford package that made it whine, although I have heard of others having the same complaint about the Nismo--not sure if it was with high flow cats and headers though.

No problems with the Stillen so far, other than an occasional (and equaling annoying) rattle on my Hotchkis sways that I can't seem to get rid of. Ah, the price we pay for a little more power!

I really do miss the exhaust tone I had with the stock exhaust and the Crawford package though--it completely changed the tone of the stock exhaust and was really exotic, just not very loud. The Stillen is the perfect loudness imo, but now it just sounds "good" rather than exotic.

I exchanged rides with a TT APS guy not too long ago and when he rode in my car was like "damn your car sounds good, I miss the sound of a n/a car!" When I rode in his car I was like "damn" I wish I had more power! Maybe we should have traded? lol

Any members with Stillen or Nismo exhaust with sounds clips or vids on idle and acceleration like Dr Bonz did on his thread about Borla exhaust?

I had the Nismo cat-back Exhaust with Xerd test pipes and AEM CAI. It sounded real exotic and nice, but it was pretty loud. I just swapped out for the Borla TD system and it is alot quieter, and the power feels pretty much the same (maybe a little tq loss and high end gain.) In the end I think I mite get the Stillen, unless something better comes along. I am posting a quote from another thread about the gains posted from sport Z mag.

But here is a view from Sport Z Magazine:

Here are more #'s in order of ranking:

PEAK HP:
1. Borla 8.2
2. Stillen 8.1
3. Injen 7.6
4. Nismo 6.3
5. 5Zigen -3.4

PEAK Torque:
1. Stillen 7.3
2. Injen 5.1
3. Nismo 4.5
4. Borla 2.7
5. 5Zigen 0.2
The Stillen gives basically the same HP as the Borla, but allot more TQ.

Also im sure if I did a little research I could find out how much each of these weigh but I am lazy!

JWT will give your engine that sucking noise. I found that the intake is louder than my nismo exhaust. It sounds like all engine though... minimal exhaust only to compliment it. I will repeat myself again. The JWT intake and Nismo exhaust will only bring smiles to your face. I think I got the combo for around 1100 from performance nissan. Maybe less. Had the local dealer install the exhaust for 175. As far as power goes, I would go more with a sound preference. You will not see a significant gain in power with any exhaust NA.

Also here is a sound clip of my Nismo cat-back exhaust with my cheap megan racing resonated test pipes (which cracked at the welds and are now replaced.)

***Be patient it takes a few mins to load***

Where is the best place to get the Crawford headers? And are they any lighter than the Stillen headers?

best bet is from Crawford direct

I honestly have no idea what each header weighs, but frankly, who cares - they will be lighter than stock (and header 'weight" is not a reason to buy headers anyway - it is so low in the car, that is will have zero impact)

Z1,

I don't want to start an argument but are you saying that if the headers weighed 500 lbs. they wouldn't cause your car to be slower? I beg to differ. Since the difference in weight is probably minimal at best then I would agree that there would probably be no difference in performance with either header, but mass is mass no matter where it is located in or on the vehicle.
