true dual?
How much difference would running two mufflers and having a true dual have, rather than say this muffler here :
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=645
It seems unlikely that this muffler would be THAT inferior to two mufflers. It saves on weight and it does have a dual in dual out setup, so that backpressure doesnt build up too terribly. Thoughts anyone?

The muffler than you're showing looks like a replacement for the OEM muffler. It’s not a bad design, but has too many 90 degree bends for my tastes. This muffler will also require custom plumbing: very expensive. I believe that there are aftermarket cat back exhaust systems that are better suited, and less expensive.
This looks like an "X" type muffler, though it is not described as such. If it is, that's the same type muffler that Borla uses in it's dual system, which is not a "True Dual". both sides mingle in the muffler. You could build a Borla look alike system. I tried this with an "X" type MagnaFlow muffler, some time ago, just after the Borla was announced for the "Z", before they had decent systems for the "G". It droned pretty badly. I lived with it for a couple of years, and now have an Invidia which is a real dual system. I moded the Invidia with an "H" pipe, and it's just about perfect, IMO.

I did some reading on the Borla site, and it mentions that the True Dual Borla for the 350Z has the "straight-through and multi-core technology", a "straight-through and multi-core technology" diagram shows an inside of a muffler being seperated into chambers. So basically on the outside, it looks like a single stock muffler, but inside, it has the "straight-through and multi-core technology" which has seperate chambers.
Are you saying Borla is lying to us and this "straight-through and multi-core technology" is not implemented in their True Dual cat-back? Please tell me you have proof of this so we can report Borla to the better business buria for miss leading the general public with their statement.
here is a diagram with 4 exhaust chambers: http://lib1.store.vip.sc5.yahoo.com/...deExhaust1.gif
and another one:

Obviously, the 350Z has two exhaust and would have two chambers.

Can you provide a diagram of this "newly designed X-Flow Muffler"? I have provided the "straight-through multi-core" diagram of what is inside their muffler to show that the chambers are seperate. I have no idea what this "newly design x-flow muffler" inside would like like.
For all we know, this _NEWLY_ design X-flow muffler could be two seperate tube crossing each other without mixing inside the muffler making an X.
I'm more then happy to end this "true dual" ***** waving arguement once and for all.

Sorry, but an "X" Flow muffler is just what it says it is. Both sides mingle in the muffler. Can you imagine how thick the muffler would be if the two "seperate pipes" criss crossed each other? If they were in fact separate they would run side by side.
Strangely, Borla has never made mention to this design since this Press Release. I have sent at least 3 "E" Mails and called them up twice questioning this. Never have I received an answer.
I know David Borla monitors these forums, and he has chosen to remain mute on this subject.
The diagram you provided is not a 350Z system, but some unidentified system. Borla doe not mention "multi-core" technology anywhere in the 350Z Press Release.
The only real way to tell is to cross section a muffler. I have also requested this of Borla, no response.
So, IMO, all the evidence leads one to believe that their dual system is not in fact a "True Dual" after all.

I have already mentioned those diagrams are of other Borla mufflers using the straight-though multi-core technology. I never said they were the 350Z mufflers. Those diagrams where to show you what straght through multi-core is.
Here is the direct link to the Borla True Dual mention of the straight-through multi-core technology:
http://www.borla.com/applications/lo...System/140045/
"True Dual Stainless Steel Cat-Back™ System
BORLA Cat-Back™ exhausts feature patented straight-through and multi-core technology to unleash hidden horsepower. Increased exhaust velocity adds power, driving excitement, fuel economy and the distinctive BORLA Sound of Power respected by motoring enthusiasts everywhere. Each system is built from premium Aircraft-Quality T-304 Stainless Steel, an alloy superior to T-400 series knockoffs, to give you the absolute best in performance and durability. Ultra-smooth mandrel bends ensure maximum flow and power, and precision computer-controlled CNC manufacturing ensures an accurate fit. Best of all, BORLA stands behind every system with a Million-Mile Warranty. Just what you'd expect from the world's most experienced (and most winning) exhaust brand."
I can only assume what Borla is stating is true, and from the multi-core diagram on other mufflers, it shows seperate chambers. Until you get an e-mail from Borla or show me a 350Z Borla True Dual diagram of the muffler, or someone cuts in half an old Borla True Dual muffler... I have to beleive that the muffler has seperate chambers. (multi-core technology)
If you can bring proof of this, then we can bring Borla to the better business agency and I can get my money back and you can win the ***** waving contest for the ultimate title of True True Dual Exhaust (TTDE) and I will only retain the title of True Dual Exhaust (TDE).
I am more then willing to concede if there is proof and put this subject to rest.

Hey
I'm done arguing with you. They state "X" Flow Muffler, and have never answered any of my queries, nor disputed what I have said on this or any other forum. David and I did have a spirited discussion on their headers however, but on this subject he has remained mute.
The Press Release was written by Borla, not by me. I merely kept it on file.

Again, you have not touched on the subject of the straight through multi-core technology which was also written by Borla. I showed two diagrams of what that technology is in a muffler.
If it makes you feel better that this discussion is over, then so be it. I'll live in my dream world of straight-through multi-core technology, and you can keep on waving your true true dual exhaust(TTDE) ***** around.
