Lightbulb Air Intake Myth Or Truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend has a black Z. He has AEM CAI. We always race, I usually win for the simple fact that I'm 6speed and he is Auto. He has alot of mods tho. Anywayz, after our races we would lift our hoods to cool down our engine. As, we did that we would check our intake and it would be hot as hell, from the front to the plenum. He recently got into an accident and crushed his cone. Replaced it with a K&N filter. Now for sum reason his intake is stayin cool as to mine that is still hot. I used to pull hard on him on 3rd gear, now he's keepin up with me. I'm pretty confused caused I thought that filter that come with the intake should work better w/ ur intake. Is he getting more hp now? Cause it sure looks like it. Really confused about him stayin cooler 2. Cuz before that, when he had the AEM filter it would be hot like mine. ANYONE HAVE AN ANSWER?

cooler air does = more power. and if you look at where the stock airbox inlet sits, there's really no hot air going in. hot air is air from behind your radiator.

AEM filters are K&N filters so I guarantee the filter is making no difference.

Dyno your car with the Injen CAI installed. Then replace the CAI with the stock set-up, and dyno again. That will take the guesswork out of the comparison.

A dyno is not the idea place to compare a cai and the stock intake. I fail to see how a cai would show it's true benefit when your car is motionless on a dyno with the hood open and a wimpy fan blowing.
