Default Plenum Problem

Hey guys, just installed my new crawford plenum. The entire install went perfectly until I was screwing in some of the last bolts around the perimeter of the plenum. The two screws at the top of the plenum (towards the BACK of the car, they are sort of raised up..) went in about 3/4ths of the way, and then they got stuck, and when I tried to take them out, the nuts on the top of the screws broke off! Every other screw went in without problem, I don't get why these 2 screws would have a problem. Anyone else have this happen? Do you think the plenum is ok with those 2 screws not fully down? Thanks....

Can you remove the screws with vice grips? Can you use an easy-out? I’d hate to drive with the possibility of a vacuum leak.

You have got to get them out of there. Do as suggested above. Don't know why that would happen.

I guess I didn't read your post well enough. Sorry Yes, those 2 holes are there to mount the G35 Cover. That cover fits over the entire plenum. I have mine cut, and I put screws in there just for esthetics. But, as I think back now, I also broke one of them off, had to remove it with an easy out, and I replaced both bolts with shorter ones from the hardware store. You can see them in this shot.

Good news. Now we understand why the screws broke in the first place: because that don't belong where you put them. But I understand. If I see a “hole,” my brain automatically tells me to put something in it: an screw or bolt or something.

Well all the instructions say are "reverse" the steps for taking off the stock plenum. I thought that the stock plenum had those 2 screws there (i had 2 extra, in addition to the 6 in the middle).
