Default Test Pipes g35 vs 350z

Are the test pipes the same on both cars?

Also is there a big difference in sound between resonated and non resonated test pipes?

They're the same for both cars.

No idea on sound, but I'm sure the resonated pipes would eliminate some of the rasp.

Honestly...the test pipes will create a raspy almost....imagine if you will two hollow metal pieces grinding against each other in a circular motion increasing and decreasing in intensity as you speed up and down...sound.

The high flow cats though not as much increase in perhaps top end power, would be a better option. Your Z will sound a little "cheaper". I have a G and I have test pipes...with a straight pipe back out to the single exhaust.....that is almost deafening.

You can buy them...but the advantage will be better seen when you decide to go F.I. Until then...it will provide little top end gains and MAJOR gains in the sound department. Depending on the type of exhaust you have....more or less in the sound decibel levels.

I can assume that the resonated ones will cut down the sound levels a little...but if the plan is to go FI, then the straight pipes would be better for a smoother airflow path. If not going to the FI route..then high flow cats would be better. Retains some of the backpressure thus keeping your tq levels the same. The test pipes are the same. The only difference in the exhaust between the two models for the most part, is the midpipe. The G's version is about 6 or 8 inches longer.

Hope that helps a little.

I have g35 as well. with a Fuji exhaust. and oem mid pipe. I havent seen that many people with this set up. but someone on either this board or another did mention that he didnt get a lot of rasp from non resonated.

I figure if i'm going test pipes i might as well the less loud one. I wish there was someone in my area who has test pipes that i can hear them in person. oh well. guess it will come down to trial and error
