i heard that if you remove all resonators, you lose HP because you lose back pressure.
But I'm not sure about that.

i thought resonating devices aka mufflers , resnators and cats cause back pressure AKA you lose hp?
Straight pipe has to be better than muffled pipe..

I can't really comment about the setup. But I can tell you it would be loud as **** and you will turn deaf and have a headache after driving your car. And I am sure cops in your area won't like your car either.
If you are using this setup solely on the track, then it will probably be ok.

I think the strup headers are great for the money and test pipes are a great mod for to have since it will free up some power and will work with FI if you ever go that route. However, I am not huge fan of hacking away at a stock exhaust system, so if you want the stock look go with the Nismo exhaust or the Fujitsubo (sp?) since they are the ones that make it

I think you'll quickly hate that sound. You should...

Strup Headers > Flanged Resonators (more than 2 ft) > Straight Pipes (less than 2 ft)

I agree with the above. The sound is going to be bad.

actually we have an M5 in our school and the guy has test pipes with aftermarket mufflers... it sounds magnificent!
i was wondering if i weld on some mufflers... that would sound better?
imo this is going to be the "temporary" exhaust fix until someone give me a crazy deal ^^
b/c cutting and welding doesnt cost that much $

I uhh....except for the headers and test pipes...did basically that same thing, I ran a straight dual outlet with no resonators whatsoever, and it sounded like crap. It sounded like there was someone firing a friggin M60 behind my car.

In that case...
Headers + test pipes are going to make the worse...

uhh you could try a couple of turbos (turbo RESONATORS, that is, for all who would mistake it for a TURBO CHARGER....not mentioning anyones name) and that should muffle it quite abit, thats what I wound up doing to get mine to a tolerable level.

But a word of advice I give everyone who starts in on a custom exhuast adventure....Dont bother. IME it is cheaper in the long run, and easier, and you are basically guessing at performance until it is dynoed.

After my custom exhuast project was over I could have bought a aftermarket with less headache and about the same price as what I had done, and had a round-about idea of the gains I would get from it from other dynos. It wound up being a money pit, and kind of like dating a really hot, high maintence chick...you start throwing more and more money away trying to get what you want out of her...but in the end, the results just come down to getting.......lucky.

This is just my horror story though, there are a few guys here who have had good luck with it.

I'm tired of these, I need backpressure posts...read this... http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscella...austtheory.htm

BTW, you will NEED some sort of muffling device, you will have to wear earplugs or just go deaf if you don't

Anyway... does veilside universal tear drop mufflers sound about right for the application?
So headers, test pipe, remove resonator, weld mufflers?

The first cop that you pass will confiscate the car, and have it towed to the impound lot. But besides that, it will sound ferocious.

They can't either. I put shortshots and pulled the baflfles out of my rejetted 2002 Dyna Wideglide II custom CVO and was pulled over 3 times on the way home from the shop. Cops are cracking down on sound ordinances big time now days. I was put on 3 months probation and sent to a class for having a sound system that was supposably rattling a cops car 2 blocks away. i know he as full of **** and so did the judge so he said don't get a ticket again for this within 3 months. that was easily bypassed. I love loud exhausts as long as they don't sound like a fartcan or whine like borla, but unless you like tickets its not worth it anymore.
