Default cat work for 03

I have searched and searched and no one has written a how-to on doing self work on the cats (besides the pictures for removing the o2 wiring) how about a how-to on getting cats out and off and the other details such as o2 sensor use and/or disconnect. Maybe all other states have emission laws and so no-one ventures there but I live in KS and they don't give a crap. Our open plains are smog free so far.

Several members have gutted the OEM cats (I assume that’s what you're referring to) for budget test pipes. It seems like a lot of work to me. You can find beautiful stainless steel test pipes for less than $200, and they'll weigh less than gutted OEM cats.

once you jack up the car and get underneath it is fairly simple to see what you need to do. Make sure the lines going to the o2 sensors are disconnected from the car, and just undo the bolts. It is a pita to get the bolts on the top, but really not a difficult install in terms for technicality. You get the bolts on the top of the cats off you can either do it from the top with a lot of extensions, or do it from the bottom. I did it from the bottom. To get the o2 sensors off the cats you should get an o2 sensor socket. Makes life very easy. You can rent them from auto zone. Sorry I dont have any pictures to aid you.
