I'm can only speak for North Carolina State emission inspections. Acording to the two different techs I've talked to, as long as you have not tripped a "check engine" light the emission test computer will not signal a problem. I recently ran an '03 Mach 1 Mustang with a catted X-pipe and Predator programming through the test and came away with a clean bill of health. There is also a requirement here for a visual inspection by the techs to determine any "modifications" are present. Of course, the Mustang passed the visual inspection. I'd ask around and see if you can find a test station that isn't so concerned with that level of attention to the details, if your state requires the same visual inspection.

Of course, I'm sure the deciding factor was my crossed fingers!

What state do you reside? What are the test requirements?

One thing when you roll in for inspection they are automatically going to think how loud it is then they will look underneath you are busted then you have to swith before you can pass. Good luck they are very strict here.

Just do the non-fouler mod or another mod to keep the CEL from coming on. Then get some heatshields from some old cats or something and weld them onto the testpipe. I guarantee that the heatshields will fool then into thinking they are cats.

A visual inspection does not necessarily mean that every vehicle is put on a lift. I would suspect a complete visual inspection IF the OBDII history is suspicious. Generally, inspectors want to get your car in and out quickly, and just take your money.
