I know that the new emissions laws in PR force you to hook your car up to the computer and test your emissions in order to get your vehicle registered. Does anybody here live in PR and have either the nismo CAI and/or Headers? Does this car pass emissions or did you have to "go around" the system?
In case this thread sounds familiar, I asked the same question a while back about New York state. To which the conclusion is, if the CEL (check engine light) hasn't been on for a long time then it's fine.

I live in Puerto Rico, since the law was passed you can see less ans less cars that have problems with emisions. The CAI should be no problem but I don't know with the headers. I think that it will be fine since the car has the catalytic converters in place. But you can always find a way around everything:-)
also, remember that if you have having your car shipped to PR, the warranty will be voided. There is some clause about it being shipped over salt water after purchase. I would assume this would extend to the extended ones as well.

I suspect a very similar arrangement would be had with Nissan dealers, since the Nissan dealers there may not be a part of Nissan North America. I kinda doubt it would be a big deal though- I'm sure they work on a bunch of Zs there already so they may not even check or know- but you never know...
it isn't that the warranty isn't valid in PR, it is the shipping of the car that voids it. Most car companies have this and I have heard that Nissan does as well. If you buy the car there then no problem, if you buy the car and have nissan arrange for shipping b/c there are no dealers where you live then you are fine. Like i said, this is something i have heard and it could be untrue, but I would look into it if I was shipping my car over salt water.

BTW, I seriously doubt that shipping the car to PR voids any warranty. It is normally considered like shipping it to any other state (example Hawaii).

Now, the real question would be "Do nismo CAI and/or headers make the car NOT pass emmisions tests in PR?"
ThankZ for everybody's support though, the truth is out there....

You can pass the inspection just as long you don't eliminate the converters, remenber the converters are the ones that make you pass inspection. Just like I told you, my car would not pass since I eliminated my converters but nevertheless you will find inspection sites that will beat the computer and make you pass just for $20.00.
