Default Just got Borla TD installed

Borla TD just got installed. I think I like it but I've only drove it from the shop back to my office. It kinda smells like somethings burning but I figure its just getting worn in. Its deeper then stock below 2k but sounds like stock after that till my Popcharger takes over. When I first drove off it felt like the RPMs climbed a little quicker and I have to have it in a higher gear while driving just to hear it. From what I've read people say it gets louder after a few days. But I'm not waiting for that, I've got my test pipes waiting to be installed within the next day or two.

I'll give some more feed back after I drive some more

Interesting. Did you get the dual design? Would like to hear it in person some time.

Congratulations. I would have installed the test pipes and exhaust and the same time, but no matter. You’ll be pleased with the extra punch with the test pipes.

I just put test pipes on my borla and the rasp is driving me crazy. I think I am going to switch to some resonated ones.

Welcome to Borla club

Yes the burning smell will go away after few miles, plus the exhaust will get a lil louder

Yah I was planning on having the exhaust and test pipes installed at the same time but UPS didn't deliver my test pipes on time. The tracking said today and everything was on schedule but no show. I paid a shop to do everything for $170, so he'll take care of the test pipes on monday.

Also, I am going with resonated test pipes. I'm glad I ordered them cause I like the exhaust but its just not loud enough for my liking.

Too bad my motordyne 5/16 iso plenum spacer is on backorder.

Damn....This stuff gets addicting.

I just got the megan resonated test pipes. I asked a few people and they had nothing but good things to say about them. Obviously I know others have had a bad experience but for the price I figured i'd give them a shot. I couldn't find any other resonated test pipes for at least $300 (if I recall correctly). I figure if they crack or whatever i'll just go with the labrees and cough up that extra cash.

So now I've had a chance to drive it a little more and it does seem to be getting deeper the more I drive it. maybe i'm just getting use to it ??? its still not as loud as i'd like it but overall i'm not impressed yet I do like it. Is this what I should expect. Do any other Borla owners have the same impression.

And for the Nismo exhaust guys who brag about their exhaust amplifying the stock note. I think that borla has the same stock exhaust note just a lot deeper at lower rpms.

When I got my Borla TD cat-back, I knew I was going to be doing the whole exhaust system so I didn't want the loudest cat-back because I knew the High Flow cats and the headers that I would be installing would make it even louder.

Anyhoo, When I first installed Borla TD cat-back There was a smell but you will have that smell everytime you install a new pipe since they coat the inside with a chemical. You will have to drive a few miles to burn it all out. The exhuast note was sweet, but it got amazing a week later. Everything just got way better. Maybe it takes a week for the heat to get everything seetled down *shrug* Anyways, the lower RPM has this deep thoaty tone, and when I go pass 3500-4000, it screams.

After I installed the Kinetix High Flow Cats, My Borla became a monster. I'm glad I didn't go with a louder exhaust because I don't think I could stand the noise. I was correct in picking a deep exhaust instead of the loudest exhaust.

I'll see what the exhaust note will be like after the header install this Spring.

I love my Borla TD!

I have to admit that that is a nice note, But I think I could stand that note for maybe 5 minutes, after that, I would go insane, that is a bit too loud for my daily driver. His neighbours must hate him

The test pikes will add some volume to the exhaust. If it is not loud enough for your taste, you can always add headers.

Might be a dumb question but want to make sure: The Borla TD replaces the Y-Pipe, correct me if I'm wrong.

Borla TD is a cat-back system, so the system is from the cats to the back of the car.

Left is the Borla TD, right is the stock:

does doubling the piping ( dual ) increase any weight over competetive exhaust systems?
