Default Track Lower Plenum+5/16" MD Spacer?

I was wondering if anyone has done the Track lower plenum and the 5/16" Motordyne spacer?

I am thinking about giving it a shot but wanted to see if it is one of those "lost gain's" set-up.

huh? maybe I'm the one lost here, but what do you mean by taking a "track" lower plenum? unless you're talking about taking a non-rev up lower plenum and putting it on a rev up motor or something. as far as I know there is nothing special about a track model plenum.

The lower plenum from the Track(Rev-up) motor is different than the non-Revup motors. It is designed to better flow air to the two front cylinders.

I am taking about that swap and the 5/16' spacer.

Sport Z showed a nice lower RPM gains with the Track/RevUp lower plenum on a non RevUp motor. I was wonder what about adding the 5/16" spacer too.

what you are basically describing is the MREV upgrade. non-mrev lower plenum and the 5/16 or 1/2 spacer.

Dont do it. Your better off just getting the spacer. Mrev uses the non revup motor lower plenum and the spacer. The reason for that is because the non revup motor lower plenum actually produces more power under the curve, the rev up motor just produces higher peak hp. Thats why all the rev up engines are getting mrev, because it includes the non rev up lower plenum and the spacer. But for you, you already have the lower plenum.

haha...thats kinda funny if its true. here are all us 03-05 owners wanting to trade up and get 06 parts (i.e. headlights, tail lights, etc), but theres actually a part from our "older" Z's that rev-up owners want. ok maybe its not funny, but I'm freakin bored.

I e-mailed Tony at Motordyne and he said that set-up has never been tested. He isn't sure what kind of gains it will give...if any. He did say if I do to get some good pre & post dyno #'s. Sure I could do it but $200+ for the lower plenum and finding out it is junk would be a costly lesson to learn.

I was hoping someone else already did it so I could save the $$.

You just need to find someone with the rev-up engine and get them to trade lower plenums with you.

Unless you plan to rev past 7K, I wouldn't bother with it.
If you have an engine to rev up to 8K or higher, this would be a very different story.

IMO the REVUP collector is tuned too high in frequency for the stock rev limiter. It compromises far too much just to produce a small blip at the very end of the RPM spectrum.

Put a spacer on your 287 engine to get the same (or greater) gains at the end of the RPM spectrum and keep all your midrange power and TQ.

5/16" is what I recommend for the Z. It keeps the stock strut bar, engine cover and looks totally stock when installed.

YBLegal....Do it and let us all know!!!

Just seeing that dyno graph where there were lower RPM gains has got me wondering....But then the gains are supposed to be higher in the RPM range...

Dammit I hate this!!!

I just bought the lower plenum off a 05 G35 MT w/ the REVUP Motor, I also plan to buy a spacer and see what the gains are. Guess I will be the lab rat in this one wish me luck!
